2011 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

Tonight I watched the 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Fuse. I absolutely love Rock and Roll and always look forward to each year’s class of Hall of Fame inductees. This year’s ceremonies were full of blues and soul and I was loving it! Here’s a wrap-up of the night’s events:

John Legend inducted New Orleans Rock and Roll legend Dr. John (who has performed at The Lyric!) Dr. John has and continues to play some of the best music influenced by the New Orleans scene. Dr.John performed his classical song “Right Place, Wrong Time” and was joined by John Legend on “Such A Night” were both artists showed their incredible piano talents.

Bette Midler inducted 60’s icon Darlene Love. Ms. Love performed “The Boy I’m Gonna Marry” as well as “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah” with The Boss, Bruce Springsteen.

Rob Zombie (who I love) then inducted Alice Cooper, the band, not just the man (who I also love). The band performed their hit “Eighteen”.

Then, Neil Young (who I don’t love very much) inducted Tom Waits (who I definitely love). His performance was absolutely amazing! Tom performed “Make It Rain” and “Rain Dogs”. I had no idea, but his wife, Katherine, is also his song partner. I think that’s so awesome and adorable!

Then: Two more favorites! Elton John inducted Leon Russell. Leon’s performances were incredible as well! “Delta Lady” and “A Song For You”. He was joined by John Mayer who reminded me why I love him so damn much. (Probably because he wasn’t talking… just playing that guitar so f*cking sexy).

Judy Collins (who has also performed at The Lyric) performed.

John Densmore, drummer for The Doors, presented Elektra Records founder, Jac Holzman the Ahmet Ertegu Award.

Paul Simon inducted Neil Diamond. Neil performed “I Am I Said” and “Sweet Caroline”.

At the end of the evening’s ceremonies, a huge group jam session took place featuring just about everyone from the evening: Lloyd Price, Dr. John, Leon Russell and Elton John were featured singing “Stagger Lee” and Alice Cooper, Bette Midler, Neil Diamond, Darlene Love and Elton John all closed the show with “Da Doo Ron Ron”.
