My San Fran friend, Lauren, the same one who turned me on to Birchbox, has introduced me to another monthly beauty subscription. I checked out the site, did a little additional research and signed up. I am now, officially, a Julep Maven.
Julep is the maker of high quality nail polishes and other manicure/pedicure essentials. Being a Julep Maven means receiving a box with over $40 worth of nail goodies each month specifically chosen based on your personal style. Before signing up, you take a style quiz filled with adorable celebrity pics and you’re asked to choose based on which style you would rock on a red carpet. Based on the results of your style quiz, Julep with select products, each month, for you to try before anyone else. Julep Mavens have first access to new products and also receive discounts on other purchases.
When I took the style quiz, my result was “It Girl”. This was based on my style choices and preferences that I share with gorgeous celebs like Zoey Deschanel, Michelle Williams and Emma Stone.
My first box will contain the 3 above pictured nail colors: Lily (fuchsia), Daisy (bright lemon yellow) and Sasha (cantaloupe melon).
I was hesitant to sign up at first because of the monthly $19.99 bill (which I think is a little steep for products that I don’t know if I’ll even like) but then I learned that I can cancel at anytime AND this month, when you sign up to become a Julep Maven, if you use the promo code MAVENINTRO when checking out, your order is only $0.01!! Yes, a penny. Even if i absolutely hate the quality, I can cancel and have only spent a penny!!
The other reason I decided to go ahead and become a Julep Maven is because each month, I (and other Julep Mavens) will receive an email describing each of the products being shipped to me in that month’s box. If I less than love what I am about to receive, I then have a grace period of 4 days in which I can select to receive a different box filled with different goodies, send my box to a friend instead, skip that month without being charged or (god forbid) cancel my subscription without being charged for that month or ever again. Ummm…. Hello? This is amazing. I wish all monthly beauty subscription boxes worked like this. (eh hem, Birchbox…)
From what I understand, the cancellation process is simple enough. You do have to call to unsubscribe but I’ve read that the customer service agents are friendly, non-judgmental and helpful in unsubscribing members.
I wasn’t lieing. $0.01!!! Can you believe it? Because I almost couldn’t. If you’re about to open a new window and sign up now, make sure to use promo code MAVENINTRO.
***(If you’re planning on waiting to sign up, don’t worry too much about missing out on the $0.01 offer because in my research, I found that just about every month there is an introductory code that will enable you to receive your first box for a penny. In march, I believe, it was MARCHINTRO… you get the picture. Just google search for the current promo code before signing up.)***
Check it out. Sign up. Let me know what you think if you are already a subscriber and let me know if you become one. I’d love to hear what you have to say about the products you have received/receive.
A very, VERY special thanks to Lauren who is always tipping me off to great beauty and fashion offers, subscriptions and ideas but mostly for always supporting me in my blogging endeavors. Although she and I have never been particularly close, she has shown far more support and loyalty to me and ginger-kate.com than my close friends and family ever have. So, Thank You, Lauren. Thank you so much! I wish I could say just how much it means to me when I find a supportive comment from you.
SUBSCRIBE up top. That way you can keep up with my monthly Birchbox and Julep reviews along with all the other things I love to gab about.
