Today, Sarah, Brooke and I made our way up to Orlando where we ran amok with more of our kind at MegaCon 2015. My only regret was that we were only able to attend on Sunday; I would’ve loved to spend the entire weekend (there’s always next year!)
The day was packed with a lot of running around the convention center, waiting in lines for events and bonding with fellow nerds, particularly Whovians. And there was a lot of Doctor Who love around. For a while, Sarah and I hung out and posed for photos with a large group of Doctors. It was the precise type of experience I was looking forward to having with my nerdy comrades. So many thanks to our “handler” Brooke for holding all our stuff and snapping pics!
I even ran into my 10 counterpart, the best damn River Song I’ve ever seen and a pretty dapper Captain Jack Harkness.
Four shared his Jelly Babies with me, this Dalek may have been one of my favorite parts of the day and please check out that War Doctor… right?
Our Sunday was mostly Doctor Who oriented. First stop of the day was our photo meet & greet with Karen Gillan. We played with other Whovians throughout the day and before ending our MegaCon Sunday on the floor, we attended the Doctor Who panel with Karen Gillan and Alex Kingston.
…it is so not typical that I am the shortest girl in a picture (nobody wearing heels…)
The three of us made sure we got plenty of Star Wars dorking-out in also when we visited the 501st Legion.
2016, I’d like to spend the entire weekend at MegaCon, especially since they’re adding a fourth day! The only damper on the day was that our Mom was there with us. She got so jazzed about Norman Reeds attending and purchased multiple passes to meet him and about a week before the con, it was announced that his Sunday appearances would be cancelled. Mom was so disappointed she opted not to attend at all.
Thanks for reading! I’d love to hear about your MegaCon 2015 experiences!
Love, GK
