Yesterday, I shared with you my photos from Friday at MegaCon Orlando 2016. Today, I’m sharing my Saturday pics and highlights!
So, I’d been working really hard on my “Glam Vader” (or Lady Vader if you prefer) for a while. Saturday, I was absolutely exhausted from sleepless nights working on the costume, driving to and from Orlando on Friday while running on barely any sleep (I worked both Friday and Saturday night and I don’t leave work until well after 4am most nights…) So as much as I had planned on waking at the crack of dawn again, I totally slept in. When I woke up I was upset but cranky and still very tired and for a while was just like “I’m not going. Its crazy to drive two hours up, walk around for a few hours and then drive back down to change and go to work… Its crazy,.. I overslept, I’m not going.” I alerted the friends I was planning on hanging with for the day and they understood… But then I talked to Sarah (Daenerys) and she was like “Fuck it! Go.” And just like that, I changed my attitude, grabbed my gear and hopped on the road.
I’m so happy I did. I didn’t attend any of the events or Q&As I was planning on attending and Saturday was so packed with people I didn’t even see most of my friends in attendance. I met up with Chris again and we stormed the floor in our Star Wars gear. He introduced me to his friends and they let me tag along and take pics with them while I was there. I may have only been at the con for a few hours but in that time I met some really amazing people and fellow cosplayers AND…. I met Michelle Gomez, Missy from Doctor Who on the main floor! She couldn’t take a photo with me bc its against the rules and she was avoiding attention but I got to speak with her very briefly and she was an absolute doll. She even gave me a pretty solid wink. As if that wasn’t enough, I completely lost my fangirl mind when I spotted one of my favorite cosplayers and my geek-chic inspiration, Victoria aka ScruffyRebel. She walked by and I said “Scruffy?” She immediately turned and as I introduced myself she knew exactly who I am from our past interactions on Instagram and whatnot. I was floored! She took a few pics with me and gushed about how she likes my hair and my cosplays and my nerdy fashion choices. It made my day!!
Saturday, although a short one for me, I managed to stop by the booths of all my con-friends to show the love I didn’t get to show on Friday. I’m so glad I made the drive! (And the large blister on my foot that I later worked on my feet dealing with was worth it too!) Here’s the photo evidence of awesomeness!
Thanks for reading!
