DIY – Accessories Organizers

Recently, I got some cheap supplies from the thrift store and the craft store and decided it was time to finally organize all my Fandom jewelry and, of course, my sunglasses. I’ve made a sunglasses frame style organizer before but it was time for a new one. Here’s how I did it all:

First up: Sunglasses Frame Organizer

What you’ll need:

  • Old frames (size depending on your need/use)
  • Spray paint
  • Ribbon
  • Super glue
  • Flat thumb tacks

1.) I picked up some ugly bathroom art at the thrift store.

2.) Spray frames

3.) Using glue AND thumb tacks, attach ribbon to the back of the frame. *Be aware of the space you’ll need for hanging the sunglasses. I attached one ribbon close to the top and another about half-way down the frame.

Done. Bingo-Bango, you’ve got your sunglasses organized and easily accessible. (I have a thing for sunglasses…)

Next: Jewelry Organizers

What you’ll need: *This is really up to you and how you want to organize. I chose:

  • Cork board
  • Bulby thumb tacks
  • Small dishes/bowls
  • Hemp upholstered bracelet holder
  • Hemp canvases (small, matches bracelet holder)
  • Spray paint
  • Acrylic paint

Necklace Display:

1.) To jazz up the cork board, I taped off the design I wanted and sprayed with gold spray paint.

2.) I also sprayed the bulby thumb tacks to match.

Bracelet Display:

3.) Using the acrylic paint (I chose teal), I painted a swirly design around the bracelet holder.

Earring Display:

4.) Using the same acrylic paint, I painted stripes on the small hemp canvases to coordinate and tie everything together.

That’s really it. Just getting creative with some cheap stuff so I can easily accessories my Geek-Chic ensembles without having to dig through boxes of tangled jewelry. I keep the fancy stuff in a proper jewelry box but for all the fun stuff, I really like my new set-up.

Plenty of space for even more jewelry like those I receive from my Fandom of the Month Club boxes each month… Oh, I haven’t told you about my Fandom of the Month Club boxes each month? Well, that’s a post for another day. 😉

Space Coast Comic Con ’15

This weekend The Treasure Coast Cosplayers hosted a booth at Space Coast Comic Con in Cape Canaveral. It was the first con that TCC was formally represented so we were all super excited about attending this con! I wasn’t able to attend on Day 1 but I did make the drive up on Day 2 with a couple of friends and members of TCC. I ended up making a last minute change in my cosplay plans (isn’t that always the way?) and decided to debut my Captain Jack Harkness!

I really need to get in the habit of taking more photos of my cosplays and with other cosplayers I meet at events… I did manage to snap a few.

Turns out, one of my good friends’ friend was also in attendance and representing another cosplay group a couple of booths down from us! One of my favorite things about attending cons is forming friendships with cosplayers from all. I also ran into an awesome Star Lord cosplayer who gave me some inspiration for the cosplay I’m working on for MegaCon 2016.

One of the activities guests could participate in when they stopped by the TCC booth was to share a less than pleasant experience in cosplaying for our #EndCosplayHate campaign. I shared a bit of what I experience often while cosplaying: I often cosplay male characters, like The Doctor or Capt. Jack and a lot of times people comment about my gender being opposite of the character… As if any of that nonsense matters when it comes to cosplaying. In fact, throughout the day, lots of other attendees mistook my cosplay as River Song… on account of the boobs… and the hair, I suppose.

SCCC was a small con (this may have even been it’s first year. I’m not entirely positive about that.) but it’s always a lot of fun to hang out and chat with other super fans of all fandoms and browse all the goodies I wish I was able to buy all of.

Gryffindor Cosplay for Karaoke

For this month’s Cosplay Karaoke party with TCC, I went with an easy cosplay of a Gryffindor… Since I am a Gryffindor, I have plenty of clothes and accessories to chose from. I was also wearing Hermione’s timer-turner necklace and wielding her wand so maybe this was a Hermione cosplay?

Anyway, we all had a blast and my friends are pretty damn cool.

11th Doctor Cosplay for Karaoke

Cosplay Karaoke nights is officially a monthly thing with me and my friends, the Treasure Coast Cosplayers. This month, I did a closet cosplay of the 11th Doctor.

As per usual, we all dressed-up, drank a lot, sang a lot and nerded-out.

Afterwards, a few of us kept the party going at Dennys and pissed off some people with our antics… it happens, I guess.

Riddler Cosplay for Karaoke

Last month, the Cosplay Karaoke party I hosted at the bar I work at was such a great success, that those of us over at Treasure Coast Cosplayers decided to do another one last night. I dressed as The Riddler but I wish I had gotten more pics of what everyone was wearing.

After all the fun and drinking, a bunch of us finished the night at Steak N Shake where the poor service gave us plenty of time to bullshit and draw on our placemats.
