July 2013 :: Ipsy :: Beach Beauty

July 2013 Ipsy Glam Bag :: Beach Beauty

Here’s what my Ipsy Glam Bag contained this month:

  • BH Cosmetics California Collection Eyeshadow Sample Pallet – Hollywood, a deep, royal purple. San Francisco,  bronze. and Malibu, gold.

I love expanding my eyeshadow collection at any opportunity but unfortunately, I wasn’t thrilled with BH Cosmetics’ quality. The colors are fun but, in addition to having very little pigmentation, the durability for all day wear just isn’t here.

  • Pop Beauty Pouty Pop Crayon in Coral Crush

Love this color! I also love that this lip crayon twists up to avoid the need for sharpening. Too quality isn’t with this product either. However, I anticipate having to reapply lip color and therefore, won’t hold it’s short term results against this product. What I will hold against the Pop crayon is its tendency to clump/flake and look a bit “crusty”.

  • Coola mineral sunscreen and moisturizer.

I am in love so far. My skin feels soft but not greasy.

  • Nailtini Nail Polish in Mai Tai

This fun coral color is a new fav of mine. A bit disappointed at receiving more nail lacquer though.

  • Big Sexy Hair Weather Proof Spray

I love this product! I’ve used it before and was not disappointed at receiving this in my July bag. The perfect defense against humidity! I use this product when I get the wild urge to straighten my hair.

Overall, I wasn’t overly impressed with this bag; I wasn’t incredibly disappointed either.

April 2013 :: Ipsy :: Pretty In Pink

Something strange, yet ultimately fortunate, happend with my Ipsy Glam Bag this month. I waited and waited and waited for my April bag and didn’t receive it. After receiving my May bag, I contacted Ipsy and inquired about my missing bag. They quickly sent me a replacement bag but it was in a different bag than the other Pretty In Pink deliveries. I didn’t mind, as long as I got my goodies. About a week later, I received another April Ipsy Bag, this time in the correct bag for the month and with alternative products!! I was so excited. Here’s what I received between my two April 2013 Ispy MyGlam bags:

Sation – Nail Lacquer in Love at First Byte AND Of Corset I’ll Call You ($5.00/0.5 oz)
Sation Nail Lacquer is a contemporary beauty company, infusing a creative direction in nail care through a blend of lifestyle aesthetics.  The collection features 120 colors from its seasonal & limited collections.  Glam Bag subscribers will receive Of Course I’ll Call You, a romantic lavender-rose OR Love at First Byte, a light peachy pink.

Be a Bombshell – Blush in Sweet Cheeks AND Beach Please ($16.00/5 g)
A highly pigmented pressed powder blush that highlights the complexion and provides long lasting color.  Can be used both as a blush or a bronzer.  Glam Bag subscribers will receive Beach Please, a bright matte pink OR Sweet Cheeks, a medium rose pink with shimmer.

Big Sexy Hair – Soy Renewal
Sexy Hair Soy Renewal is the nourishing styling treatment with multiple benefits! Speeds up blow drying time, nourishes and protects hair, and enhances shine. Made with Moroccan Argan Oil, Soy Renewal addresses moisture, frizz, smoothness, elasticity and shine concerns, while protecting against heat and environmental stresses.

Two Cosmetics – Duo Eye Shadow in Heartache ($5.75/full size)
Two Cosmetics blush pink duo eyeshadow in Heartache is suited for all skin tones & complexions in two finishes.  The shimmer side is fabulous for highlighting the brow bone, tear duct or cheeks.  The matte side is great for blending, or for use as a blush or an all over the lid color.

Mica Beauty Cosmetics – Mineral Eye Shadow in #72 EarthMicaBeauty Mineral Eyeshadows are extremely gentle, free of preservatives, chemicals, dyes, talc, oils, and other fillers. With this unique formula, the eyeshadows will look ultra smooth and stay put for hours without creasing or pulling the delicate eye area. Can be mixed with clear lip-gloss, clear mascara, and clear nail polish to add pigment to lips, eyelashes and nails!

I’ve become quite the Be A Bombshell fan over the last year and Im so psyched to have these two gorgeous blushes! My blush supplies have become a bit skimpy in recent months and these two new shades will vamp up my options. No stranger to Mica products either, my sister first introduced me to their products years ago. I’ll definitely have fun with this mineral powder. Two Cosmetics, I am new to. I’m happy to have the chance to try out this eye shadow duo though. I like the colors in Heartache. I’ve been a fan of the Sexy Hair lines for a few years now. I can definitely put this renewal treatment to some good use.

Had I only received one of these bags, I still would be extremely happy with April’s bag. Considering I received double to goodies, I am over the moon! I loved this months bag(s)!

GK Favs :: Curly Girly Hair

Since moving to wordpress and gaining so many new readers (thank you!!!) I’ve received several e-mails asking about my favorite beauty products. Most of the inquiries are in regard to what hair products are my favorites: shampoos, conditioners, styling products. I’ve been asked by other Curly Girlys what works for me, so here goes.

At any given time, I alternate between two different shampoos and conditioners. One of my absolute favorites for my crazy, curly hair is the Curly Sexy Hair shampoo and conditioner (made by sexy hair). I had been a fan of the Big Sexy Hair styling products and once I tried Curly Sexy Hair, I knew I had found a new personal must-have. After using Curly Sexy Hair Shampoo and Conditioner, my curls looked great; each ringlet better defined.

The Curly Sexy Hair styling products are also pretty fantastic but I don’t buy them very often. I do, however, rely on John Frieda‘s styling products on a regular basis.

Currently, my alternate shampoo and conditioner are John Frieda’s Frizz-Ease Smooth Start Shampoo and Full Repair Conditioner. I am particularly loving the Full Repair Conditioner; this was actually my first time buying this one and it works.

The Full Repair Deep Infusion ends treatment is amazing! I love how it smooths my very frizzy, dry ends. I’ll always keep a bottle of this around. Right now, I’m using John Frieda’s Frizz-Ease 3 Day Straight Spray and Secret Weapon Creme when I straighten my hair. Love the results I get when I straighten my hair with these two products, even on South Florida’s coast!

I also wanted to share some of my favorite hair products because I’ll be putting other hair products to the test and sharing my results and wanted to give you guys some kind of an idea of what I’m working with now. My boyfriend’s Madre gave me a bottle of Wen Conditioning Cleanser after experiencing great results herself and I have yet to give it a try. I’ll be sure to share with you my thoughts about Wen!
