Moroccan Oil :: The Real Deal

159

Unless you’ve been under a frizzy-haired rock, you’ve taken notice of the latest fad in hair products: Moroccan Oil. Well, the reason for the boom and why every hair care brand out their now has some sort of M.O. line of products is due to these babies.

My hair-stylist sister gave me this set for Christmas and I was so happy she did. I’ve been lusting after these products for a while and knew she’d come through on the delivery!

The set includes:oil (serum), curl control cream, and frizz control spray. My hair has never looked better. I highly recommend this line for all curly girlies!

With A Bow On Top

It’s been too long since I’ve posted my Daily Threads and even then, I wasn’t very good at consistently posting them. I’d like to try and get better at this… I guess we’ll see how that goes. If nothing else, I want to at least feature non-workday ensembles and there’s no better time than the present!

Here’s what I wore today:

I love my new floral tank that I picked up at Ross for $8.99. Paired with my Billabong jean shorts, you can barely tell I have shorts on at all (that’s why I included the second picture). It should be no surprise that I wore my brown Sanuk flip flops… I live in those things.

I actually wore less bracelets than usual. I wore a plain silver chain, an earth-tone beaded bracelet and my Alex & Ani Star of Venus bangle.

Rings: my claddagh, heart turned out, and one of my newest acquisitions, a costume piece, that’ll probably turn real quick. I got it from one of the guests at the hotel who practically forced each of us to take a few pieces. I thought this one was pretty awesome though and so do my guy friends for some reason. The first time I wore this ring, each of the guys, at different times without knowing each other also asked, asked to wear this ring… it was strange.

I wore one of my favorite headbands too! I ordered it from ASOS, I forget how much it was.

I wore, simply, a shamrock on a short silver chain around my neck and spritzed myself with Clinique Happy Heart (one of my absolute favorite perfumes!)

Well that’s it. A casual, summer outfit to sit poolside with the family.

Organix: Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil

As you know, I LOVE trying new beauty products! And although I have my favorites, I always like to give others a chance to “wow” me!

Recently, I’ve been using the Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner by Organix. It. Is. Wonderful! I almost couldn’t believe just how silky and soft this combo leaves my very dry, damaged hair.

One day, after I had begun using this Shampoo and Conditioner combo, I was enjoying a surf day at the beach. My hair holds a hair-tie pretty damn well and it’s rare that I lose a hair-tie once it’s in there. (I’ve lost bobby-pins and hair ties IN my hair but never lost them bc they fell out of my hair). After one particularly swift wave crashed upon me, I ducked under water and when I rose up, my hair tie had been washed out and lost forever. When I reached back to verify that my hair-tie had indeed gone out to sea, my hair felt so incredibly silky and it made total sense why my hair-tie had washed out so easily.

At this point in the day, I had been playing in the waves for several hours and had already tied and retied my hair-tie several times and it was in there quite tightly. My hair was that soft, that silky and smooth that the hair-tie simply slipped out. Although I was miffed about not having a hair-tie for the rest of the afternoon, I couldn’t help but be impressed with just how well this Shampoo and Conditioner combo from Organix works!

This isn’t the first time I’ve used Organix products. I tried and quite enjoyed their Nourishing Coconut Milk combo a while ago. I also used a couple of the accompanying styling products; it’s a great and effective line. However, this time, I was über impressed with the condition in which this Shampoo and Conditioner left my hair.

Not only would I recommend this line from Organix, I would insist that others with damaged or otherwise dry hair use these. It truly is, renewing.

I have a couple of other Shampoo/Conditioner products that I’m eager to give a try very soon. One, is another Shampoo and Conditioner combo by Organix: Ever-Striaght Brazilian Keratin Treatment. The other is Wen cleansing conditioner. It seems, right now, the “in” thing in hair is definitely Keratin/Brazilian treatments. Now, do I really believe this Shampoo and Conditioner combo with make this crazy, curly hair of mine go pin straight? No. But I am excited to see how it works through my dense curls. Maybe relax them a bit temporarily? We shall see. As far as the Wen product goes: I’m not as eager to try it, but I will. My ex-boyfriend’s mom gave me the bottle after she used the line of products and was quite happy with her results. Between you and me, I didn’t notice a visible difference but perhaps it felt nicer after use. I’m happy for the gift and chance to give this product a try but I am very doubtful that I’ll experience fabulous results “after just one use” as the infomercial promises. Who knows, though? Perhaps Wen really is that fantastic!

Please check back for my reviews on each of these products. And if you like what you read, please subscribe up top. I LOVE comments and other imput and I also love my Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram followers! SO find me and follow me!!! I’ll even follow back if you mention ginger-kate.com!

Thanks for reading! It is appreciated, as always!

GK Favs :: Curly Girly Hair

Since moving to wordpress and gaining so many new readers (thank you!!!) I’ve received several e-mails asking about my favorite beauty products. Most of the inquiries are in regard to what hair products are my favorites: shampoos, conditioners, styling products. I’ve been asked by other Curly Girlys what works for me, so here goes.

At any given time, I alternate between two different shampoos and conditioners. One of my absolute favorites for my crazy, curly hair is the Curly Sexy Hair shampoo and conditioner (made by sexy hair). I had been a fan of the Big Sexy Hair styling products and once I tried Curly Sexy Hair, I knew I had found a new personal must-have. After using Curly Sexy Hair Shampoo and Conditioner, my curls looked great; each ringlet better defined.

The Curly Sexy Hair styling products are also pretty fantastic but I don’t buy them very often. I do, however, rely on John Frieda‘s styling products on a regular basis.

Currently, my alternate shampoo and conditioner are John Frieda’s Frizz-Ease Smooth Start Shampoo and Full Repair Conditioner. I am particularly loving the Full Repair Conditioner; this was actually my first time buying this one and it works.

The Full Repair Deep Infusion ends treatment is amazing! I love how it smooths my very frizzy, dry ends. I’ll always keep a bottle of this around. Right now, I’m using John Frieda’s Frizz-Ease 3 Day Straight Spray and Secret Weapon Creme when I straighten my hair. Love the results I get when I straighten my hair with these two products, even on South Florida’s coast!

I also wanted to share some of my favorite hair products because I’ll be putting other hair products to the test and sharing my results and wanted to give you guys some kind of an idea of what I’m working with now. My boyfriend’s Madre gave me a bottle of Wen Conditioning Cleanser after experiencing great results herself and I have yet to give it a try. I’ll be sure to share with you my thoughts about Wen!

Wedding Week – Hairzilla pt duex – The Happy Ending

Dani, my stylist from ColourWorks Salon, and felt really bad about me leaving a bit disappointment in the corrective treatment that I had received. She offered to give me a free haircut if I could make it back in. I called up and made an appointment for after work and headed over.

Dani did an amazing job and gave me the haircut I so had been putting off. You could really see the amazing color even more once all the distracting dead was gone.

I received the Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Kertatriplex Treatment with Wild Ginger (Yay! Ginger!). It’s absolutley perfect for dry damaged hair. Those of us with curly hair know just how dry our locks can get. The dryness leads to horrible frizziness!

In fact, the entire Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Keratin [with WILD GINGER] system is absolutely amazing! I purchased a “starter kit” with a little bit of all the Paul Mitchel Awapuhi Keratin products. My Mom received the same treament and also purchased the kit.

The kit includes:
Moisturizing Lather Shampoo – 3.4 oz -100% Sulfate free so it’s easy on color treated hair and uses keratin proteins to help repair and rebuild damaged hair. An incredibly tiny amount is needed for a head full of suds.

Keratin Cream Rinse – 3.4 oz – provides amazing moisture and like the shampoo, only a very small amount is required for a huge affect.

Keratin Intensive Treatment – 3.4 oz – small amount needed. deep repair and protection.

Styling Treatment Oil – .85 oz – lightweight oil to tame frizz

Finishing Spray – 2.3 oz – flexible, humidity resistant hair spray.

Texturizing Sea Spray – .85 oz – enhances waves and curls for a beautiful tousled post-beach look.

PS I love my parent’s bathroom. It’s so relaxing. My Dad did an amazing job remodeling and my Mom did and awesome job decorating.

But I digress. Dani did an amazing job! and with my new color, soft and silky hair compliments of Awapuhi and my haircut, I’m feeling great. Pics of the finished product to come. I’m too tired right now.
