Kate Crate – Unboxing

This is a really special post for me. I want to share with you guys an unboxing video of the FIRST EVER in the history of ever KATE CRATE!! One of my good friends, Fourth Doctor Cosplayer and my MegaCon buddy, Chris was thoughtful enough to create a personalized Kate Crate and send it my way. His one condition was that I film an unboxing video so, of course, I complied.

I’ve been experiencing kind of a rough time recently and a very special select few of my friends have been in my corner and helping me through. Receiving this Kate Crate is a really important moment of light during a pretty dark period for me. I cannot say “Thank you!” enough, Chris for doing this for me!

Now that I have received my Kate Crate, I am on a mission to put together a pretty fantastic Chris Crate to send in return! And, who knows? Maybe this Kate Crate/Chris Crate will become a “thing” and I’ll get to share with you guys future videos about them!!

Thanks for reading! If you don’t already, please subscribe. You can also see what kind of nerdy fun I’m getting into on my cosplay page on Facebook: GingerKate Cosplay. You can also (and I would so very much appreciate it if you would) follow me on Instagram @gkcosplay (I’m also @gingerkate). I have links to all that great stuff on the side bar so please show me some love and support and I will always return the favor in kind. I hope you guys enjoy my Kate Crate Unboxing video… It turned into kind of a long one but I was having too much fun blabbering on about all the items and some other random thoughts that popped into my brain and immediately out of my mouth while filming.

*And, yeah… before any of you call me out… I refer to a White Walker (from Game of Thrones) as an Ice Warrior (from Doctor Who)… deal with it.*

Thanks again for reading and watching!

June’s Cosplay Karaoke

Last night I enjoyed another amazing Cosplay Karaoke Party with my friends of The Treasure Coast Cosplayers. Here are some of my favorite shots from the night!

I was also given one of the most thoughtful gifts I have ever received. One of my favorite people on this planet, Mike, got me a blue box (external hard drive) with a TARDIS on it and had another great friend of mine, Scott, to load it up with all the existing Classic Who episodes!!! I can not express just how much I love these two and how happy they made both of my hearts!

MegaCon Orlando 2016 – Friday

IMG_7284

I’m finally getting around to posting about my weekend at MegaCon Orlando 2016! I have to specify “Orlando” because, as of this year, there will be MegaCon Tampa! And who is the #1 beautiful face on the poster advertising the inaugural year for this con?! DAVID TENNANT! Be still my heart and may my pockets be plentiful because I am absolutely attending, absolutely meeting David, absolutely paying for the photo op, I’M DOING IT ALL!! I HAVE to…

But that’s not until October. Let’s focus on the now… or the then… when “then” was last weekend… you get the point.

Friday, my sister and I attended as, yep, the Tenth Doctor and Mother of Dragons, Breaker of Chains, yadda yadda yadda, Daenerys from Game of Thrones. Sarah was quite the fan-favorite and I acted as handler for her a lot throughout the day. Of course, there was plenty of Whovian love abound and I got to meet some really fun people! We also met up with a good friend of ours and 4th Doctor cosplayer, Chris. I had such a blast!

Early in the day we attended the Phelps Twins’ (Fred and George Weasley) Q&A which was a lot of fun as expected. Later, we got to meet and take a photo with Billie Piper (Rose-mother f’ing-Tyler, people!) She was so nice and warm and welcoming that after our photo when Sarah and I were discussing just how cool and friendly she was, I totally cried… yep. She really is one of the nicest people I’ve ever paid to meet. I just want to get drunk with her and hang out; she seems like she’s be a blast to chill with.

Friday was a really fun day so here’s all my pictures from the day.

Thanks for reading! I’ll post about my MegaCon Saturday experience tomorrow!

Guess WHO’s Back?!

It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted! The past 6-7 months have been filled with a lot of really fun times, costuming & cosplaying and some pretty epic personal events. There’s also been some heart-breaking and traumatic shit that shook down; some of the key players in my life have been fired from set and some of the guest stars are now leading lads and ladies. I’ve had the good fortune of outlets and opportunities opening up all around me that allow me to do the things I love with people I love and I couldn’t be happier.

So, back to work!

As I play a pretty intense game of catch-up, I’m going to start with a post showcasing some photos a photographer friend of mine, Phil Gladys, recently took of one of my Tenth Doctor Cosplays! I’m so excited about these photos and I hope you’ll take a look!

Thanks for reading. You can look forward to lots of new material over the next several weeks!

Space Coast Comic Con ’15

This weekend The Treasure Coast Cosplayers hosted a booth at Space Coast Comic Con in Cape Canaveral. It was the first con that TCC was formally represented so we were all super excited about attending this con! I wasn’t able to attend on Day 1 but I did make the drive up on Day 2 with a couple of friends and members of TCC. I ended up making a last minute change in my cosplay plans (isn’t that always the way?) and decided to debut my Captain Jack Harkness!

I really need to get in the habit of taking more photos of my cosplays and with other cosplayers I meet at events… I did manage to snap a few.

Turns out, one of my good friends’ friend was also in attendance and representing another cosplay group a couple of booths down from us! One of my favorite things about attending cons is forming friendships with cosplayers from all. I also ran into an awesome Star Lord cosplayer who gave me some inspiration for the cosplay I’m working on for MegaCon 2016.

One of the activities guests could participate in when they stopped by the TCC booth was to share a less than pleasant experience in cosplaying for our #EndCosplayHate campaign. I shared a bit of what I experience often while cosplaying: I often cosplay male characters, like The Doctor or Capt. Jack and a lot of times people comment about my gender being opposite of the character… As if any of that nonsense matters when it comes to cosplaying. In fact, throughout the day, lots of other attendees mistook my cosplay as River Song… on account of the boobs… and the hair, I suppose.

SCCC was a small con (this may have even been it’s first year. I’m not entirely positive about that.) but it’s always a lot of fun to hang out and chat with other super fans of all fandoms and browse all the goodies I wish I was able to buy all of.
