2012 MTV VMAs

Ugh. What a terrible way to start off a year of award show coverage. The fashion on display at tonight’s VMAs was absolutely atrocious and the performances were just as bad. There’s no way to ease into this (that’s what she said) so here we go. Red carpet fashion first then, “highlights” from the show.

THE WORST DRESSED

P!nk, Zoe Saldana, Demi Lovato

Pink, Zoe Saldana and Demi Lovato were the least offensive of the offensive dressers. Bad but not absolutely horrible. Pink, This looks hot and not good-hot; sweaty, smelly hot. Zoe’s dress actually doesn’t look all that bad in this photo, in fact, it looks pretty good. However, during the show, when she was introducing a performance the dress looked like an absolute mess. Demi. IDK what to say. This doesn’t completely suck… but it sucks all the same.

Jessica Szohr, Nicki Minaj, Regina Spektor, Maria Menounos

Jessica – What is this? I do know it’s horrid. Did you cut those slits yourself? Nicki – I know you’re all about being a “character” but this looks like a rejected Spider-man costume. Regina – You look like an awkward 8th grader at the school dance. Maria – No. Just, no.

2012 USA Olympics Gymnastics team and Swimmer Missy Franklin

Who let our Olympians dress themselves? Everyone looks horrible… and manish… I don’t care, I said it.

Jersey Shore cast members

Some of the cast of The Jersey Shore… ’nuff said. Ok, Pauly D looks good (from the forehead down)… Ronnie, Sammie and Deena all look like they are attending the same 8th grade dance as Regina Spektor. Poor Vinnie looks like he’s dressing as Michael Jackson for Halloween.

THE ABSOLUTE WORST DRESSED

Miley Cyrus

The absolute WORST dressed of the night was Pink… I’m sorry, Morticia Adams… nope, sorry again, Miley Cyrus. The best looking thing about Miley is Liam Hemsworth and he’s not in these pictures.

Ok.. enough of the bad (and unfortunately there was far too much of it tonight) Onto the Good!

THE BEST DRESSED

Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Taylor Swift

Katy Perry – normally, I doubt this wouldve made my Best list but tonight, it was one of the few that didn’t reek of tastelessness. Ke$ha – Yes! Kesha is included in my Best list. She looks good… for her. Taylor Swift – I like the white suit. It looks good. Unfortunately it’s tainted with her desperation to be a Kennedy.

Yeah, thats it for the Best Dressed. 3 people. However I do have a tie for The Absolute Best Dressed:

THE ABSOLUTE BEST DRESSED

Rhianna

Rhianna looked absolutely fab. Love this crisp, white greek goddess look.

Emma Watson

EMMA WATSON!!! My favorite for the night (and most nights). I can’t wait to see Miss Watson in Perks of Being a Wallflower. I think this dress is young and fun and totally appropriate for the night.

Now, before we move onto the show, I need to address something:

Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, Wiz Khalifa, Amber Rose

If you’re still carrying the baby, as in pregnant like Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa, its ok to “bring” your baby to an award show, especially if you look as good as these two did. HOWEVER, if you are carrying that kid in your arms, GET A BABY SITTER. Damn. And come on… both Alicia and Swizz looked stupid on the red carpet. Especially Alicia in this horrible, horrible gown; she looks like she’s marrying the Tin Man.

One with the show…

Kevin Hart hosted this year’s VMAs. Now, Kevin Hart is hysterical! So I naturally figured he’d be a fantastic host for the night’s events. I was wrong. He spent too much time trying to make “real” points like how Kristen Stewart shouldn’t be judged for making a mistake and how Chris Brown and Drake would stop fighting. You know, the realest of real issues. It was a waste of time.

Rhianna opened the show with a performance of Cockiness. The only thing I thought was great about her performance was how into the audience she got, right in the crowd. Until I realized, throughout the show, how EVERYONE was getting in the middle of the audience… it became weird and a little uncomfortable.

One Direction’s Thats What Makes You Beautiful won for Best Pop Video. They picked up a few moonmen tonight including Best New Artist.

Pink’s performance wasn’t amazing but compared to the others it was probably the best of the night… which is really strange. Not as strange as the fact that Pink has people buying her music for over 12 years now. I did like the dancing lip ladies and Pink’s lips swing.

Chris Brown won Best Male Video for Turn Up The Music. He accepted with his ridiculous and not a bit sexy or excusable white and blue-bangs hair.

Frank Ocean’s performance was HORRIBLE! Everyone was talking about how he “stole the show”. The only thing he stole was time from everyone who witnessed his performance of Thinkin’ ‘Bout You.

Hey! Who has two thumbs and can’t stand Rashida Jones OR Andy Sanberg?!

Ugh… the worst. They are both so painful to watch. They were presenting the award for Best Hip Hop Video.

Drake and Lil Wayne won and for some reason Nicki Minaj and two other gentlemen had to join them in accepting their statue. It is at this moment when I began to rewind the cut to Rhianna over and over and over because i’m pretty freaking sure she mouths “I fucking hate that asshole”. If you have it on your DVR or OnDemand or if you change the channel to MTV it’s probably on, check it out and let me know what you think.

I also think she and Katy Perry were talking shit the entire show about everyone and loving every minute of it.

Ya know, they really just don’t make boy bands like they used to. Moping about on stage… where’s the sick moves guys? You aint got shit on Justin! What?! They are total little cuties though. If I were 13 I’d be lovin’ that!

Nicki Minaj’s Starships won for Best Female Video. Every time I hear her speak, I find her more and more annoying, sad and off-putting. I love many of her songs; can’t stand her. And why the hell does she require a two man escort to the stage?

Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz performed. It was lame. And Weezy needs to never not wear sunglasses; his eyes are creepy as fuck. A very messy performance. A skateboard? (The side-by-side pic of Lil Wayne and Donnie from The Wild Thornberries, that’s starting to circulate, is spot on.)

I’m pretty sure Emma Watson was wasted when she introduced Green Day with her Perks of Being a Wallflower costar, Ezra Miller. She looked a little stumble-y.

Not enough rock stars OD anymore. Now they stick around way too long and make progressively shittier and shittier music. This was the perfect place in the show to take a bathroom break without pausing my DVR since we’ve all heard this song before; for the last 17 years.

Alicia Keys performed Girl on Fire and was shockingly bad. She was awful. What happened to that 18 year old musical wonder-girl who gave us all a reason to believe in neo-soul?

Rhianna won the biggest award of the night, Video of the Year for We Found Love. … I do like that song and video…

… and then THAT happened. Was it really necessary to include the spoken break-down in the middle? It’s awkwardly placed and completely unnecessary on the track but in a live setting now? Ridic. I love the outfit though. Ascetically it was ok but, ugh, this girl…

That was it. Thanks for reading!

I’d love to hear what you thought of this monstrosity. Please subscribe if you like what you read and want to be notified every time I post something bc bookmarking just doesn’t cut it and you just can’t miss a word!

2012 MTV Movie Awards

Last night, were the 2012 MTV Movie Awards.I didn’t watch them. … But I did DVR the event because I can’t help myself. Tonight, I fast-forwarded through a lot of the bs (who am I kidding? this whole show is bs. They (shamelessly) make up the categories every year to suit the nominees/winners.) but there were some cool moments that I didn’t skip through.

As usual, my favorite part of any award show is seeing what everyone wore. I’m honestly shocked at how many dumb bitches showed up on this red carpet in full-on gowns…

Russell Brand hosted the night’s events and, honestly, sucked. I usually LOVE him but he was so not funny and made way too many references to his divorce from Katy Perry. Awkward.

… He still looked delicious. … and I really don’t know why.

My Favorite Looks

My top 3 favorite looks also happen to be 3 of my favorite ladies in Hollywood: Emma Watson, Leighton Meester and Emma Stone.

1.) Jessica Biel – I love the Mod look. I think this dress looks a little heavy and also kind of bulky in the shoulders/armpit region. But I really do like this. 2.) Eva Amurri Martino – I love this simple white dress. Gorgeous. 3.) Victoria Justice – I LOVE this… I have no idea who the hell this chick is, but I like this summery number.

1.) Mila Kunis – I like this. I don’t love it. But I like it. 2.) Ellie Kemper – I really like this floral mini and the bright green clutch! Adorable! 3.) I may not like her, but I often like Kristen Stewart’s red carpet style. This pic shows her in heels, but she later switched to black converse and I like it better with the converse.

Ugh…

1.) Paris Hilton and Nicky Hilton – Why are you here? 2.) Julianne Hough – I’m pretty convinced she had Ryan Seacrest hire someone who find out what Paris and Nicky would be wearing so she could match… whats with this weird mid-middrift cut-out trend? It looks stupid.

1.) Kate Beckinsale, why does your dress, for a June event in the Northern Hemisphere, have a turtle-neck? Why? 2.) Crystal Reed – “That girl from that crappy Teen Wolf show on MTV…” This is f*cking stupid. Never walk a red carpet again. 3.) Lucy Hale – I just don’t like this. It’s gross. and it makes her look über stumpy.

Elizabeth Banks and Josh Hutcherson did not represent The Hunger Games very well fashion wise… Everything about Elizabeth’s one-piece pants suit is every that is wrong with one-piece pants suits. (I don’t know if this is even one piece… just go with it.) And, I’m sorry Josh, is that a damn Members Only jacket?… cause it’s as ugly as one if it isn’t.

WTF is going on? …

Vanilla Ice? Brooke Hogan? JEAN CLAUDE VAN DAMME?

What. The-F*ck. Is. Going. On? …

Let’s look at some boys…

I love these guys. Workaholics is hysterical!!!

Chris Hemsworth… I do love a Hemsworth boy… so…uhhh…. perfect.

I just hope that if Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone ever end, god for bid, that he finds me and we get married and have little Garfield babies… that’s it.

AWESOME MOMENTS

Fun opened and were joined by Janelle Monae… and I’m pretty sure she only owns one outfit: her suit. Wiz Khalifa was awesome. I’m becoming quite the fan of Wiz.

Before being presented with his Generation (Lifetime Achievement) Award, Johnny Depp played guitar with The Black Keys! It was pretty damn sexy.

MTV created a whole new award this year. Groundbreaker Award. I’m not bothered by this because they, appropriately, presented the award to Emma Stone who was so gracious and adorable and teary-eyed.

I’m super stoked about the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man and the set behind Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield when presenting… something… looked amazing.

Most adorable couple EVER to walk the Earth. I love these two and I love them together. Can you two please get married and have lots and lots of babies and live happily ever after? Please?

When Mila Kunis and Mark Wahlberg took to the stage to present the award for “Best Dirtbag”… someone in the audience said something that was apparently “vulgar” to Mila. I’ve searched for answers and the only one I read claims that the audience member called Mila a “C#ntbag”… regardless of what was said, Mark stepped up and threatened to beat his ass… which was sexy.

Later, someone’s Mom pretended to knee some guy in the balls…

SURPRISE! Kristen Stewart can’t talk in front of a camera.

Gary Oldman… Gary FREAKING Oldman… yeah… Gary Oldman, Christian Bale and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Later joined by Christopher Nolan) showed a sneak-peek at Batman Dark Knight Rises… and I don’t think I blinked. I can not wait for this movie to come out.

Alright, I’m tired… here are the Nominees and Winners of the 2012 MTV Movie Awards.

2012 Golden Globe Awards

Ricky Gervais hosted the 2012 Golden Globe Awards tonight in spite of or beacuse of all the headlines he made last year with his jabs at all of Hollywood’s elite. I love Ricky and was disappointed at how infrequently throughout the show that he was actually allowed to speak. Is it really considered hosting if you only make an appearance on stage once every hour?

Host of the 2012 Golden Globes, Ricky Gervais

Tonight’s Golden Globe awards provided some AMAZING looks and some awkward moments. In fact one of the most awkward things to happen started during E! New’s red carpet coveage, where Fashion Police’s Kelly Osbourne kept insisting how much Sophia Vergara’s dress looked like hers…. I’ll let you decide, but I’m sure you’ll come to the same conclision as I did…. Yeah, poor Kelly.

Sophia looks amazing!!! and so does Betty White!

Lets start with my favorite looks from the Red Carpet and to begin, The Best Looking Gingers.

Emma Stone - One of my favorite gingers and one of my favorite looks from the evening.

Nicole Kidman

Debra Messing

Julianne Moore - I wouldve liked this even more if it didn't have the frill in the middle. Also, absolutely love the green earrings!!!

Here are the other looks of the evening that I absolutely loved:

Zooey Deschanel - This was my absolute favorite look of the night! Plus, I am a huge fan of fun fingernails and Zooey's were painted like little tuxedos!

Evan Rachel Wood - I loved her feathery frock!

Reese Witherspoon

Angelina Jolie - LOVE the pops of red. Hated all the pretentiousness on the red carpet.

Charlize Theron

Kate Beckinsale

Other Great Looks:

Claire Danes and Heidi Klum both looked fabulous!

Mila Kunis, Jessica Alba, Kate Winselt, Sophia Veragara

Rooney Mara, Kristen Wiig - even though I cant stand her, Nicole Richie - not sure why she was there though, Selma Hayek

But the ladies were not alone in the Best Looks department. Here are, who I think, were the best dressed men of the evening… it doesn’t have a lot to do with what they wore either.

Ewan Gregor - that fine piece of scottish a.., Zachary Levi - the sweet piece I only recently noticed, now I'm in love. Johnny Depp - loved the emerald green vest and pocket watch with matching green face!, Elton John and David Furnish, Leonardo DiCaprio

…. and the worst looks:

1.) Jessica Beil - she must have been so excited about her recent engagement to Justin Timberlake (and who wouldnt be?) that she time traveled back to 1902 to pick out her wedding dress.I'm just not sure why she's wearing it to the Golden Globes. 2.) Kelly MacDonald - you are amazing on Boardwalk Empire. You just look awful though. 3.) Emily Gould - Homeland's housewife... why are you dressed like a call girl brought on a trip to Monte Carlo? 4.) Missi Pyle - ??? when did you start doing real movies?

1.) Busy Philips... I can't even begin right now. 2.) Sarah Michelle Gellar and Piper Perabo - what, the f*ck, whereyou guys thinking? 3.) Connie Britton - this is a dressy kind of occasion. you shoulve rsvp'ed no to the bbq you came from before you arrived if you weren't going to have time to change.

1.) Julie Bowen - not only do you look horrible, but you annoy me, a lot. 2.) Laura Linney - this is ugly. 3.) Natalie Portman - too plain. 4.) Tina Fey - I love you so much. Why the puffy hair and ugly gown?

Madonna didn't look as gross and dead as she usualy does, so that good I guess. But the one glove and cheap-looking chunky cross necklace just made the dress look worse.

Sharon!? Why???I love you so much. I adore you... what is this?

On with the show……

One of the first shots which led to one of my first thoughts of the show was “Look how amazing Nicole Kidman and Harrison Ford look together. Must better than her shrimpy little husband and his girlfriend… whats her name?

Here come the awkward moments… Johnny Depp can make most moments awkward (and yet still so sexy) but this was uber weird.

Whats worse than Adam Levine behind a mic? Jimmy Fallon behind the same mic. I absolutely can not stand either of these guys and NBC thought it would be just fab to stick them on stage together. Jimmy was clearly auditioning for next year’s hosting job and doing what he does best: not be funny.

Here are some of the night’s winners:

Claire Danes and Kate Winslet both picked up awards.

George Clooney with his beautiful girlfriend for the year Stacey Keibler and Michelle Williams

Homeland, a show I LOVE, won for Best TV Drama.

Morgan Freeman was presented with the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievment award by Dame Helen Mirren and Sydney Poitier

I must include this little gem from Morgan’s time spent on The Electric Company.

some not so surprising winners: Steven Speilberg and Meryl Street (who at least pretended to be shocked and then admitted she had a speech prepared when she realized she forgot her glasses.)

Lots of great fashion! Lots of semi-good talent! Some deserved awards. Lots of awkward moments and a crap-load of photo-bombing… did anyone else notice? Celebs were creeping into each others camera time all through the night… it was hilarious.

If you follow me on twitter, then you know how much I love a good excuse to live tweet all my nastey little opnions of red carpet coverage, award shows and other big events. Follow me and read them all next time! @xGingerKate

Sunglasses!!!

My love of sunglasses started at an early age, when my mother would buy me “cool-dude shades” and “movie star sunglasses”. I’ve always loved vintage shaped shades and over the last few years the rest of the world caught up. This season, retro inspired sunglasses are hotter than ever!!

Cat Eye

Circles, big ones.

Patterns

 Square

 Wayfarers

Retro inspired shades are all over the place! You can surely find a shape, color, pattern that you’ll love!

Victoria Beckham has a fabulous line of sunglasses.

sorry my posts have been a bit short recently, it’s been hard finding time, 😦 thanks for continuing to read! I’m nearly at 25,000 page views. Thank you so much!

2011 MTV Movie Awards

Tonight were the 2011 MTV Movie Awards. Broadcast Live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, the show was hosted by SNL’s Jason Sudeikis.

Ok, it’s no surprise that Saturday Night Live hasn’t been funny for the last 6 years at least. Every cast member is horrible. However, occasionally, an SNL cast member can actually be funny. This definitely was not the case with Jason Sudeikis. He-was-horrible. His jokes were stale. Yes, Jason, it is terrible that MTV, Music Television, doesn’t play music videos anymore… but the joke is played out. You’re lame. Yes, Jason, MTV will be broadcasting the ceremony over-and-over-and-over… happens every year, however your paycheck should be adequate and that joke is also old. Oh and Jason, you’re little bit on the piano was a complete f*cking waste of time… just stop doing what you (don’t) do… go get a job.

Most of the people in attendance fly way under my give-a-sh*t rader, but there were a few moments worth watching for as well as some pretty well-dressed ladies:

Emma Stone, who is always one of my favorites, looked fabulous.
And she’s back to Ginger!
Never usually one of my favorites, Kristen Stewart looked amazing!
I loved the mini dress covered in safety pins and the amazing black pumps.
Her soft hair and makeup worked really well with the totally rock-and-roll fashions she was rocking.
But nobody can ever look better than Emma Watson!
Every time I see her she looks completely fab.
I mean, come on, look at her! She’s adorable!
She made the appearance at this years awards to premier an extended trailer to this summer’s
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2.

But, of course, no award shoe would be complete without those dressed absolutely terrible:

Amanda Bynes. Didn’t you retire? You should probably stick to that.
Leighton Meester. Gross. I’m so disappointed.

But leave it Jim Carrey to out do everyone. The funnyman donned a green suit onto which various images were projected. However, is Jim Carrey still funny? I’m pretty sure he’s not.

Ok, I don’t get the Bieber thing… his videos aren’t played. His songs aren’t played… so…. how do people even know who he is? Album sales alone? Because theres this thing called UTorrent Tweens, that means you don’t have to pay for your (sh*tty) music.

But ok, he’s a teen idol… but what the f*ck is with the Johnny Depp-esque surprise appearance? I’m sorry, is MTV the WRONG venue for Justin Bieber? What a little tool.

The one moment I was kid of looking forward to was seeing Reese Witherspoon accept this year’s Generation Award. … … … I’m pretty sure she was toe-up wasted. But I love her anyway.

And, bringing home the only award for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, Tom Felton won this year’s Best Villain award again.Yay #TeamPotter!
