August 2013 :: Glossybox :: Bohemian Summer

August 2013 Glossybox USA :: Bohemian Summer

At least Glossybox didn’t go with a cheesy back-to-school theme. I’m a grown-up, thank you. I just so happen to be a grown-up who still enjoys playing dress-up. Here’s what I received:

  • Jelly Pong Lip Blush in Marshmallow Pink.

Love the color. Love the twist up. I’ll have some fun with this lip crayon!

  • Novex Brazillian Keratin Hair Cream

I’ll give this a try when I straighten my hair in the cooler weather (only about 3 months away!) but the packaging reminds me of weird products you find at a severe discount store (like big lots, cheap johns or wise buys) or you might find it on a table at an old lady’s yard sale. Not so sure about this one but only testing it will really tell!

  • Anatomicals Misty for Me Facial Spray

I love this product! I didn’t think I would but this stuff is fabulous! I give my face a spritz after a shower when in lounging about my house or after washing my face for the night.

  • Sue Devitt Triple C-Weed Pressed Powder in Quiet and Still

I like the feeling of this powder when on and will definitely use it.

  • ModelCo Eyeshadow Duo in Bronzed Goddess

Great colors. I can always use more neutrals. One complaint: your entire face gets sparkley after a very short time wearing. The color stays intact during a full night of bartending but the shimmer is all over. I happen to enjoy shimmering on the job but I felt it needed to be shared.

  • – BONUS: Guess Denim Makeup Bag. Hang on, let me velcro my LA Gear hightops and break out my Sony Walkman too. … Guess, Glossybox? You guys are silly.

I’m more pleased with this month’s glossybox than I have been for a while now. Honestly though, I don’t know how much longer Ill keep my subscription. $21 a month can be applied to products I like and want instead of a 5-sampled dice-roll. I can tell some deep thought and contemplation will have to go into this decision.

July 2013 :: Glossybox :: Le Grand Bleu

July 2013 Glossybox USA :: Le Grand Bleu

Recently, I’ve been becoming quite disappointed with my monthly Glossyboxes. This month wasn’t any different. The theme was inspired by the ocean and time spent at the beach. Here’s what my box contained:

  • – Brazilian Blowout Acai Deep Conditioning Masque

I’ll give this a try eventually but with my humidity-prone ringlets.

  • – Bvlgari Shampoo & Shower Gel

Enough with the Bvlgari shower and bath crap already! Not excited about this at all. Smells great I just don’t care about trying this.

  • Figs & Rouge Cherry Blossom Tinted Lip Balm

This was a nice find in this months box. I’ll definitely put this lip balm to good use! Feels great and i like the subtle color.

  • Nails Inc Baker Street Nail Polish

Love the color but I have a very similar one already in Essie’s Butler Please and the quality of Nails Inc is nothing like Essie’s.

  • – Nicka K New York ABSOLUTE! Make-up Cleansing Tissues

Once again, I’ll use this but I’m not happy, excited or impressed at receiving it.

  • -Eveologie Intensive Blemish Serum

Applied before bed, my skin felt a bit tight but fresh.

This months box was kind if a busy for me. After reading some other reviews, I would’ve definitely preferred to swap a few of my products for others features in Julys box. Not impressed, Glossybox. (Again)

Thanks for reading!! Love, GK

May 2013 :: Glossybox :: 1yr Anniversary Box

Glossybox USA celebrates it’s 1st birthday this month! I’m not exactly flipping over this box but it’s also not the worst I’ve received.   Here’s what the May 2013 1 year Anniversary Glossybox contained:

  • Être Belle – Collagen & Aloe Vera Hydro Mask ($39.50/10 packs) This restructuring and moisturizing Collagen & Aloe Vera mask provides skin with an extreme moisture boost that improves elasticity and promotes hydration.  Tip: Use it just before bedtime to reap optimum benefits.
  • European Wax Center – Slow it Body Wash ($20.00/ 8 oz) and Slow it Body Lotion ($20.00/8 oz) (Slow it Body Wash) Prevents ingrown hair, leaves skin clear, deters bumps and blemishes while hydrating the skin.  (Slow it Body Lotion) Nourishes and softens skin while decreasing hair density to allow for softer, thinner hair growth.
  • My Prime – Multi-Purpose Mattifying Moisturizer ($68.00/60 ml) My Prime’s lightweight moisturizer packs a double punch with intense hydration and superior anti-aging benefits while delivering a flawless, matte finish.  It also doubles as a primer that keeps your makeup on all day long.

  • Nicka K New York – Absolute! Perfume Stick ($14.99/0.29 oz) Absolute! Solid Perfumes embody the spirit and passion of New York, the city that never sleeps.  Escape the everyday with evocative scents, both refined and seductive, and each with a different secret to discover.  Parceled in beautiful, boutique-inspired packaging, these addictive perfumes are perfectly sized to slip into your purse and transform your world.
  • Sebastian Professional – Volupt Spray ($19.95/5.07 oz) The Volupt Spray is a volume-building spray gel with the cushion particle technology that best combines full volume and sensual softness.  Shake well to activate its two-phase formula and spray on damp hair.  Blowdry for extra body or air-dry to enhance waves and curls.

  • Amorepacific – Color Control Cushion Compact ($60/30 g) This Color Control Cushion Compact is a multitasking wonder.  It contains powerful broad-spectrum SPF protection to combat free radicals, deep hydration for replenished skin, and complete coverage for smooth skin all in one lightweight, portable compact.

The Sebastian Volupt Spray will get used, but I don’t exactly new to add volume to my hair. I really like the way the Amorepacific color control feels on my skin but I feel it’s a bit too dark for my fair skin which is uber disappointing. I’ll definitely use the MyPrime, but failed to be wowed by it. I do really like the perfume stick! It smells fresh and clean and lemony.

A bit disappointing for any month but a huge let down for the 1 year anniversary box.

April 2013 :: Glossybox :: Work That Beauty

The April 2013, “Work That Beauty” theme of Glossybox is all about beauty products that are working for you. Here’s what was included in the box:

  • Alterna Haircare – Bamboo Style Boho Waves Tousled Texture Mist ($22.00/4.2 oz) A weightless texturizing mist that instantly gives natural, “just-back-from-the-beach” waves.  Simply spray on damp or dry hair from roots to ends and shape with fingers for loose, tousled style
  • Le Métier de Beauté – Replenishing Daily Solution ($225.00/1.7 oz) This rich, emollient formula protects, conditions and hydrates while it nourishes, rejuvenates and detoxifies skin, restoring a healthy suppleness to your skin.  Paraben-free.
  • Bvlgari – Eau Parfumée au thé Blanc Tea Bag for Bath ($9.50/0.5 oz) Eau Parfumée au thé Blanc is a generous and elegant expression of personal indulgence.  Relaxing and calming.  Eau Parfumée au thé Blanc reflects the precious nature of white tea, offering an intimate and luxurious expression of sensory pleasure.
  • The Honest Company – Honest Organic Lip Balm ($10.95/3 pack .15 oz) Honest Lip Balms are made from organic jojoba and oils from olives, sunflowers and coconuts.  Tahitian Tamanu oil, rich with Omega 6 & 9, helps restore vitality and boost moisture.  Perfect for maintaining happy, healthy lips.
  • TIGI Cosmetics – Glow Blush in Awaken ($22.00/.07 oz) A soft, baked powder formula that effortlessly provides a glow-from-within effect and looks beautiful on all skin tones.
  • Wash with Joe – Coffeemint Invigorating Body Wash ($28.00/16 oz) This body wash contains an invigorating blend of coffee and mint that helps revitalize and balance the body and the mind while keeping skin superbly clean.

I haven’t gone a day without using my Honest Organic Lip Balm since the day I opened this box. I love that stuff! I’m also enjoying the Wash With Joe body wash on occasion. I don’t really have a need for the texture spray, considering my natural state of crazy curls and the glow blush i received looks a bit ruddy on my skin tone. I wasn’t impressed with replenishing solution when I received it back in January, so I was a bit disappointed to find it again.

March 2013 :: Glossybox :: Spring Fling

Spring Fling! That’s the theme for March 2013’s Glossybox. I’m really pleased with this box! Although I’m a bit disappointed with another bar of soap this month, the other products featured are incredible! This is one of the best boxes in a while.

  • ModelCo – Cheek + Lip Tint in Rosy Red ($24.00/.33 oz) CHEEK + LIP TINT is a light weight, dual purpose tint for cheeks and/or lips that delivers an instant & natural rosy glow to suit any skin tone. This transparent gel glides on smoothly, leaving the perfect amount of sheer colour for naturally flushed ‘just pinched’ cheeks and a sexy pout.
  • Pixi Cosmetics – Magic Tink Tint in Happy Thoughts Pink ($16.00/.10 oz) Think happy thoughts as this subtly blooming, super-nourishing gel crayon tints your lips in true Tinker Bell style. The ultra-moisturizing lip balm glides effortlessly onto lips, reacting to your lips’ pH level to deliver a perfectly personalized pink tint – customized ethereal lip magic to flawlessly flatter any fairy!
  • Elite Models – Matt Liner in Matt Brown ($24.00/10ml) Intensity, precision, and resistance brought together in one product! Waterproof and long lasting, the liner won’t budge all day long. Its precise applicator allows you to adjust the thickness of the line the way you like it. The texture dries very quickly and the colors are deep and intense.
  • Prestiche – Essential Oil Bar Soap in Lathernder ($16.99/125 g) This bar soap is made from the highest quality all-natural ingredients, which are hand selected by seasoned botanists, herbalists and cosmetic gurus.  It will soothe even those with extremely sensitive skin, as it contains rich essential oils and vitamins that work to leave skin soft, refreshed, and aromatic.
  • Sebastian Professional – Shaper Fierce ($15.00/.09 oz) From unkempt bed heads to high-fashion chignons, this shaping spray provides buildable, flexible hold while maintaining a high-shine gloss – a definite must-have for keeping your fashionable ‘dos in place.

A little bit goes a loooong way with the Cheek + Lip tint by ModelCo. The looks more like a berry colored stain than rosy red, but I like that even better. I’ve received other ModelCo products in the past and always enjoyed those as well. Pixi has quickly become one of my favorite brands and the fact that it is readily available at my local Target, I can get my hands of replacment must-haves when necessary. This sof,t shiny lip crayon is so delicately adorable. I’m also digging the Elite Models Matt Brown liner. It applies beautifully and lasts long without running.

This box was an absolute win!

Thanks so much for reading!
