My #nerdvember Master Post

This year, I participated in Set To Stunning‘s #nerdvember contest. Each day, during the month of November, participants can earn an entry into the contest by posting a nerdy inspired outfit of the day. Those who entered 1-10 days qualify for Tier 1 : The Sidekick. 11-20 Days, Tier 2 : The Vigilante. 21-29 Days, Tier 3 : The Hero and All 30 Days is Tier  4 : The Superhero. I jumped in on the 9th day of the contest so posting everyday for the rest of the month, I’ll qualify for the “Hero”. (For full contest info and rules, check out the official post.)

I had so much fun with this photo challenge and even made some pretty rad instagram friends along the way. (For more information on each of these looks, check out my instagram @gingerkate )

Geeky Chic Nostalgia

I’ve been having so much fun participating in Set To Stunning‘s #nerdvember. The nerdy-themed outfit of the day Instagram contest got me thinking about two of my favorite chic geek outfits from the past.

First up is the outfit I wore for the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary special: my Her Universe Red Dalek Dress with my black & white cardigan and some villain inspired jewelry including my Adipose earrings and a [Max] Capricorn necklace.

The other, is the first time I wore my Sherlock ‘Bored’ A-Line Dress from Gold Bubble Clothing. My yellow Converse All Stars and yellow belt looked smashing with the yellow smiley face and my Sherlock Holmes “The game is afoot – Sir Conan Arthur Doyle” necklace from Hot Topic completed the look. (I even got props via Instgram & Twitter from Gold Bubble Clothing’s Creative Director (cosplayer and Set To Stunning Blogger), Victoria Schmidt!)

Sherlock Bored Dress

Many weeks ago, before SDCC, I ordered the Bored A-Line dress from Gold Bubble Clothing’s Sherlock Holmes collection. Through all the Doctor Who activities, I haven’t had a chance to wear it yet. I want to begin by saying that the customer service team at Gold Bubble is impeccable! I wrote to then requesting to receive my order before SDCC (under the guise that I was actually planning on attending SDCC) and the team went out of their way to email and text me while they were attending SDCC to get me my fabulous dress. Of course, not being at the convention, or even in the same time zone, I didn’t get my order early. But they tried, hard!

So a couple of weeks ago I received a second order from them. They sent me a second Bored A-Line dress!! I wrote to customer service about exchanging my second dress for another dress from The Sherlock Holmes Collection and it was no problem. I sent back the second dress and received the Deductions A-Line Dress today! So exciting!!! Now that I have two fantastic frocks to show my Sherlock love, I had to wear one tonight while out for drinks. Here’s how I wore my Bored A-Line:

photo 1I paired my dress with a thin yellow belt to accentuate the yellow smiley face on the chest and my yellow converse all stars. To add extra Sherlock to my look, I wore my “The Game Is Afoot” necklace that I found at Hot Topic.

photo 2This is one of my favorite dresses that I’ve ever owned! It fits so perfectly and I love how feminine it is. Only a true Sherlock fan would even be able to spot this fangirl fashion must-have! Check out the entire Sherlock Holmes Collection from Gold Bubble Clothing!

Gold Bubble Sherlock Holmes Collection

Last week, I learned about Gold Bubble Clothing’s Sherlock Holmes Collection and promptly squee’d. I love several different pieces from the collection but there was only one item I knew I just couldn’t live without. I ordered the Bored A-Line Dress (despite the inordinate price) and simply can not wait until it arrives. There’s a note on the site, when ordering, that states you can contact them to request that they try and get your order to you in time for SDCC, otherwise, Gold Bubble will begin shipping orders from this collection in August.
