Thats all for tonight… depending on whether or not my scheduled photo shoot for a lively engaged couple gets rained out or not, I might work on it some more tomorrow.

I’m super excited to finish this one! I’ll give you a hint about what my vision entails: once finished, I can post this piece in my Fangirl section too! 😉 Bonne nuit!

Guitar Shopping

Today, Casey, J., and I spent the afternoon down in West Palm Beach guitar shopping. Well, Casey was guitar shopping. I picked up some miscellaneous gear and music accessories for Casey and I even picked up a few things for my Bass!

I simply couldn’t help myself. I’ve been wanting a Ukulele for forever, so I had to play around with at least a few! I will have my Ukulele very soon! (…and I can’t wait until I do!)

Later, Casey went down to the theatre to help prepare everything for Tommy Tune and The Manhattan Rhythm Kings who’ll be in tomorrow. So I had to run to Wal-Mart for some Coke and found myself browsing about and I am so happy I did!

I hate Wal-Mart. I loathe it. Going at night isn’t so bad since the average surplus of swamp-things aren’t meandering about without a clue. It’s like Zombieland in that place, except I can’t bludgeon anyone in the head.

HOWEVER, tonight I completely lucked out. I found 3 awesome nail polishes by Hard Candy for $1 each! One Dollar. I found 2 mascaras by Hard Candy, one of which is gold glitter (um, YAY!) each of these were also only $1. I picked up a neutral nail color with enriching qualities for your nails by Nicole that was also, you guessed it, $1. It was awesome!

I took a peak at the clearance accessories and found the most adorable black & glitter and Zebra print bobby-pins! I had to get them! The, I looked down and saw something I couldn’t quite believe… it was… snap-bracelets! Yes, SNAP BRACELETS! I didn’t buy one. I bought TWO! One if a glittery zebra print, and the other is a glittery zebra print, but purple instead of white. I feel like I’m 7 years old ago. I through down fistta-cuffs over snap bracelets back in the day.

I also picked up a very plain, classic (Keds-looking) pair of white sneakers ($5) and two tank tops, one black and the other is white with a colorful cheetah print ($4.50) each. And two adorable pairs of cat-eye sunglasses. I’ve been looking for an all black pair, but I found at Wal-Mart were a solid white pair… which I LOVE… and a black pair with teal blue along the top. Each one only cost $3 on final clearance!!

Overall purchases:

Oh!
and last night, I picked-up some goodies from Target! I had been loving these black and white with a splash of color notebooks for a few months. The themes are just so adorable: Bright Red Fuzzy Dice, A Green Vintage Bicycle laying against a dirty ally wall, A Teal Blue Motor Scooter on a stone street. I just think they’re so cute. Anyway, they were all on clearance, so I finally bought them. Who knows what i’ll use them for, but they’ll look adorable on my desk!

The reason I was even looking in the notebook aisle though, was because I needed a new “Spontaneous Creativity”/Brainstorming notebook. I keep on me at all times. I fill them with blog ideas, poetry, quotes I like, lyrics I like, original lyrics (usually random one-liners), various lists (i’m a big “list-er”.) pretty much anything creative or inspirational for me.

I picked up this one, which I think is adorable! It’s a vintage type-writer! So cute. and it’s the successor to the “Notes” reign. 🙂

There was another notebook, very similar to the type-writer notebook, but this one has a vintage record player and reads “let the good times roll”. I’m going to write all my developing lyrics (once transferred from the sparatic notebook, of course).

I’m so happy! I’ve always been a huge school/office supply freak. I’m pretty much obsessed. Don’t leave me alone with your multi-colored sharpies…

Overall, this weekend was quite relaxing and I got my shopping fix at a very low price. I’m a happy girl. Now, a jam-packed week ahead for me and the theatre… I’m still trying to mentally prepare.

Guitar Update.

My guitar is coming right along. Besides minor touch-ups, I’m finished with the painting. After I lacquer the entire thing I’ll install all it’s hardware and fixtures, string it up… and viola! Complete.

The Body so far.

I really wanted the background to be very, sort of, spacey. Wisps of gold swirls through the purple hues and gold and silver stars are scattered though out.

No Hardware or Lacquer yet

I really didn’t know what to do with the neck. I finally ended up blending the dirrefent shades of purple as I did on the body and then sponged gold accross each of the frets. The most recent work I put into the piece was picking and shaving the paint off of each of the frets… it’s nearly impossible to tape each one off. Ryan showed me the easiest way to do this using an exacto knife.

It’s almost done!!! I’ll be customizing my acoustic next!!

Dave Matthews Band concert tomorrow night with Casey, Ryan, and Cromer!!! So excited!!

My Current Piece. Custom Guitar.

The other night I decided to start a piece I had been wanting to do for a while. My friend T.R.O. has custom painted several guitars, and they are beautiful. Mostly original pieces, he has also painted Starry Starry Night on one (seen in the picture below) as well as an entire Richie Havens series for and auction benefiting one of our local theaters. Well, a while ago, he gave me a guitar, all primed an ready to go, so I could do one myself. I hesitated on starting because I was waiting for an amazing idea. I never got one, but I got the urge to start painting it, and so I did.

Me with the Starry Starry Night Guitar by T.R.O.

I’ve been taking photos each time I add more to it. I started by sketching out whatever came to mind; which so happened to be flowers and swirly lines. I decided the lines would become bars of music and then began painting.

It’s far from finished, but I’m excited about how it’s turning out.
