October 2013 :: Ispy :: The Art of Beauty

October 2013 Ipsy Glam Bag

The Art of Beauty

I was pretty happy with this month’s Ipsy MyGlam Bag. The theme this month was “The Art of Beauty” and the bag was full of some great goodies to construct a fun and healthy look. Here’s what I got:

  • Zoya Nail Laquer  Mason  a fun, iridescent purple color. I’ll have a lot of fun with this one. Happy to be adding another fabulous color from Zoya to my polish collection.
  • Nourish Organic – Coconut & Argan Body Lotion This lotion is 100% natural usda-certified organic. Promising to “deeply nourish”, it’s non-greasy, absorbs quickly and smells fantastic! The summery aroma will help me think tropical thoughts during the next very cold, very dry months.
  • Ofra – Lipgloss Plumper in Sultry I love the deep burgundy color. Theres a shimmery sparkle and it doesnt feel overly sticky.
  • h2o+ – Face Oasis I can always use another post-cleansing hydrating treatment. Instead of a cream, this treatment is a gel.
  • Sexy Hair – Spray Clay I’m already a fan of Sexy Hair products and I will definitely be able to put this hairspray to good use. This is definitely not a flexible spray though; better for stubborn styles.

There you have it. My Ipsy MyGlam Bag for October. Thanks for reading!

July 2013 :: Ipsy :: Beach Beauty

July 2013 Ipsy Glam Bag :: Beach Beauty

Here’s what my Ipsy Glam Bag contained this month:

  • BH Cosmetics California Collection Eyeshadow Sample Pallet – Hollywood, a deep, royal purple. San Francisco,  bronze. and Malibu, gold.

I love expanding my eyeshadow collection at any opportunity but unfortunately, I wasn’t thrilled with BH Cosmetics’ quality. The colors are fun but, in addition to having very little pigmentation, the durability for all day wear just isn’t here.

  • Pop Beauty Pouty Pop Crayon in Coral Crush

Love this color! I also love that this lip crayon twists up to avoid the need for sharpening. Too quality isn’t with this product either. However, I anticipate having to reapply lip color and therefore, won’t hold it’s short term results against this product. What I will hold against the Pop crayon is its tendency to clump/flake and look a bit “crusty”.

  • Coola mineral sunscreen and moisturizer.

I am in love so far. My skin feels soft but not greasy.

  • Nailtini Nail Polish in Mai Tai

This fun coral color is a new fav of mine. A bit disappointed at receiving more nail lacquer though.

  • Big Sexy Hair Weather Proof Spray

I love this product! I’ve used it before and was not disappointed at receiving this in my July bag. The perfect defense against humidity! I use this product when I get the wild urge to straighten my hair.

Overall, I wasn’t overly impressed with this bag; I wasn’t incredibly disappointed either.

June 2013 :: Ipsy :: Wild Side

NYX – Powder Blush in Spice ($7.00/0.2 oz) Adding a healthy glow to cheeks is effortless with the variety of blush styles and shades available from NYX Cosmetics! The NYX Powder Blush delivers sheer, silky color that glides on and blends beautifully creating a natural glow.

Starlooks – Lip Pencil in Tipsy ($12.00/2.4 g)
Starlooks’ long-lasting, full-coverage Lip Pencil enhances the shape of your lips and gives them perfect definition.  This creamy, moisturizing formula glides on softly to smooth lips and ensure lipstick stays in place, while extending its wear.  Can also be used as an all-over, highly-pigmented lip color.

J.Cat Beauty – Sparkling Cream Palette ($4.49/palette)
Everyone loves a little sparkle!  Add a healthy dosage of sparkle in your life with the cream palette that comes in a variety of complementing colors.  The creamy texture allows the sparkle to be applied easily with an applicator onto your skin.  This product should be used on the body and not on the eye area.

J.Cat Beauty – Eyelash + Eyelash Glue ($3.99/set)
Create some drama with these voluminous faux eyelashes!  Available in 30 different styles that you won’t be able to resist.  Each includes an individual eyelash adhesive to last you all day long!

Cailyn Cosmetics – Line-Fix Gel Eyeliner with Brush Built-In in Purple ($21.00/0.14 oz)
Whether you are trying to create the eyes of the runway model or the classic look of a 60’s Hollywood star, the Cailyn Line-Fix Gel Eyeliner can make any style possible!  The easy to use built-in brush makes it perfect for taking on-the-go.  Create a chic yet casual look right before work, and then update it for a night out with the girls.  The Cailyn Line-Fix Gel Eyeliner brushes on smooth and stays moist just long enough for wearers to perfect their look.  Once dry, the gel is smudge-proof and waterproof for 24 hours.

Hands down, my favorite product in the Gel Eyeliner by Cailyn. The color is gorgeous and it applies magnificently! The NYX blush I received is actually a shade I already own and the J Cat products will be fun to play around with. I’m not a big fan of lip pencils, but this one will prove to be useful. Another fantastic bag from Ipsy!

Thanks so much for ready. I am now, officially all up to date on my Ipsy Reviews. The last several month’s reviews have finally been posted and retrodated for cataloging purposes. April 2013 :: Ipsy :: Pretty In Pink

Something strange, yet ultimately fortunate, happend with my Ipsy Glam Bag this month. I waited and waited and waited for my April bag and didn’t receive it. After receiving my May bag, I contacted Ipsy and inquired about my missing bag. They quickly sent me a replacement bag but it was in a different bag than the other Pretty In Pink deliveries. I didn’t mind, as long as I got my goodies. About a week later, I received another April Ipsy Bag, this time in the correct bag for the month and with alternative products!! I was so excited. Here’s what I received between my two April 2013 Ispy MyGlam bags:

Sation – Nail Lacquer in Love at First Byte AND Of Corset I’ll Call You ($5.00/0.5 oz)
Sation Nail Lacquer is a contemporary beauty company, infusing a creative direction in nail care through a blend of lifestyle aesthetics.  The collection features 120 colors from its seasonal & limited collections.  Glam Bag subscribers will receive Of Course I’ll Call You, a romantic lavender-rose OR Love at First Byte, a light peachy pink.

Be a Bombshell – Blush in Sweet Cheeks AND Beach Please ($16.00/5 g)
A highly pigmented pressed powder blush that highlights the complexion and provides long lasting color.  Can be used both as a blush or a bronzer.  Glam Bag subscribers will receive Beach Please, a bright matte pink OR Sweet Cheeks, a medium rose pink with shimmer.

Big Sexy Hair – Soy Renewal
Sexy Hair Soy Renewal is the nourishing styling treatment with multiple benefits! Speeds up blow drying time, nourishes and protects hair, and enhances shine. Made with Moroccan Argan Oil, Soy Renewal addresses moisture, frizz, smoothness, elasticity and shine concerns, while protecting against heat and environmental stresses.

Two Cosmetics – Duo Eye Shadow in Heartache ($5.75/full size)
Two Cosmetics blush pink duo eyeshadow in Heartache is suited for all skin tones & complexions in two finishes.  The shimmer side is fabulous for highlighting the brow bone, tear duct or cheeks.  The matte side is great for blending, or for use as a blush or an all over the lid color.

Mica Beauty Cosmetics – Mineral Eye Shadow in #72 EarthMicaBeauty Mineral Eyeshadows are extremely gentle, free of preservatives, chemicals, dyes, talc, oils, and other fillers. With this unique formula, the eyeshadows will look ultra smooth and stay put for hours without creasing or pulling the delicate eye area. Can be mixed with clear lip-gloss, clear mascara, and clear nail polish to add pigment to lips, eyelashes and nails!

I’ve become quite the Be A Bombshell fan over the last year and Im so psyched to have these two gorgeous blushes! My blush supplies have become a bit skimpy in recent months and these two new shades will vamp up my options. No stranger to Mica products either, my sister first introduced me to their products years ago. I’ll definitely have fun with this mineral powder. Two Cosmetics, I am new to. I’m happy to have the chance to try out this eye shadow duo though. I like the colors in Heartache. I’ve been a fan of the Sexy Hair lines for a few years now. I can definitely put this renewal treatment to some good use.

Had I only received one of these bags, I still would be extremely happy with April’s bag. Considering I received double to goodies, I am over the moon! I loved this months bag(s)!

March 2013 :: Ipsy :: The Great Escape

This month’s Ipsy MyGlam Bag, The Great Escape, had a travel theme but left me feeling a bit stranded. I wasn’t impressed at all with this month’s samples. Sure, I’ll use the makeup remover wipes and I’ll even give the hydrating mist a solid try but honestly, this months bag was a bit skimpy. Perfect example: the GlamRX mini freestyle palette is intended for you to include your favorite products for on-the-go touch-up… what are the odds of you having a small enough size of your “favorite” product to add to this? (Not that it really matters in my case anyway; my doggy got his teeth on this before I had a chance to take the picture.) Here’s what March’s bag contained:

LA Fresh – Travel Lite Makeup Remover Wipes ($1.99/8 wipes)
La Fresh Travel Lite portable towelette wipes are perfect for jetsetters, go-getters, outdoor enthusiasts and multitaskers everywhere.  Towelette packets are small in size, designed for practicality and are easy to apply discreetly.

Juice Beauty – Hydrating Mist ($22.00/6.75 oz)
Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist tones, hydrates, and refreshes your face and hair while on the go, anytime of the day.  Hydrate with the refreshing blends of organic juices for a fresh, radiant complextion.

GlamRX – Mini Freestyle Palette
The GlamRX Mini Freestyle Palette is a unique, practical, pocket sized palette featuring a magnetic base that holds your own eyeshadow, bronzer, blush or whatever you need for the perfect touch ups on the go.

Yaby – Eyeshadow Refill in Seashell & Azalea Petal ($3.15/3 g)
Whether you want to make a dramatic statement or just add a veil of color to your eyes, the yaby eyeshadow refills are extremely easy to work with.  Can be used wet or dry and the smooth texture allows blending with ease.

Quite the disappointing bag this month. 😦
