Neutered & Neutral

Yes, you read the title correctly. On my last of 3 lovely days off from work in a row, I took my little baby doodle-bug, Jack Daniels to be neutered. I spent the day waiting anxiously to pick him up and working on some craft projects (you will get to read all about them in some up-coming DIY posts! So get excited!)

Because I was planning on a relaxing day around the house and pool, my Daily Threads were pretty basic and way comfortable. I spent most of the morning in a bathing suit and eventually put on “real” clothes for the rest of the afternoon. My look was pretty neutral with minimal accessories (basically, just enough to avoid the “naked” feeling). Because I failed to post my daily threads for my last two days off of work (they were pretty basic as well) I wanted to make sure to post today, especially since tomorrow I’m back in black. My black suit for work that is.

Here’s what I wore:

  • Navy Blue V-Neck T – Forever21
  • Navy Blue Flowy-“vest” – Forever21
  • Khaki Shorts – Old Navy
  • Straw Fedore – Gift from my friend, TRO
Each of these pieces is pretty “old”. Forever21 goods are usually good for a few wears and then pretty misshapen and/or ripped but these two pieces have held up at least a year now. And I love the flowy vest so much!!!
The Old Navy shorts are about to get the chuck because they drive me nuts. The bottoms just crinkle right up and fold over so I look like I’m constantly picking wedgies, when in reality I’m sparing the world a view at the crescents of my pasty white ass… I guess those two actions are similar… but they’re different!! I’m not exactly the biggest fan of Old Navy. I usually end up pretty disappointed with my purchases. I do, however, feel super skinny when I try on their clothes since their sizes are about 2-3 sizes too big.
  • My Claddagh
  • My Silver chain
  • Silver and Faux-Turquoise bangle by Lucky Brand

My Mom was kind enough to be my photographer for the day. She quickly alerted me when there was the illusion of a camel-toe, and that’s why I love her.

Anyone want to guess at what I wore on my feet? If you guessed crocs, you should be shot. If you guessed my Sanuk flip flops, you’re awesome as well as correct.

Cheers! and here’s to Jack’s balls!

Love, GK

“made of flesh. made of sand. made of human”

Here’s what I wore today:

It was a laid-back day off of work with plans to surf in the evening. I wore a camel-colored corduroy skirt by Bongo that I got at a thrift store not that long ago for a couple of bucks. I wore a brand new, plain white t that I got from Ross for $7.99 (I go crazy for a fresh white T/tank… I just love them!) I had my usual Sanuk flip flips on and borrowed my friend’s hat that was laying around the boys’ house.

Here’s how I accessorized:

(crappy cell-phone pic) My short silver chain w/ shamrock, long owl necklace, Lucky Brand Peace sign earrings, my claddagh ring, owl ring, silver chain bracelet, silver bangle, Alex & Ani star of venus bangle, earth tone beads and jade beads.

But that wasn’t my only look for the day. Once it was time to head to the beach I had to switch it up.

I borrowed the men’s Levi plaid button up and simply tied it around my waist. I wore a pair of white shorts for a small amount of time as well.

As soon as we got out there, the white shorts came off. Later on, once I was tired of being tossed around like a rag doll, I wore the shirt open and untied without the shorts.

I happened to be wearing the oldest bathing suit I own, but it’s an “old faithful” for me. It’s my black and teal Billabong bikini.

It was a glorious evening at the beach; we didn’t leave until well after the sun went down. The beach at dusk is beautiful… I may not have had any major break-throughs in my surfing “lessons”, but I got some writing down and generally just enjoyed the salty air and warm breeze.

Thanks for reading! Love, GK

Tax Exempt Shopping Day #1

It’s that time of year again. All those little brats will now be back in school and out of my way, eyesight and earshot… running around screaming and dripping nasal fluids.* It also means there’s an entire weekend of sales tax exempt on clothes and shoes!!! It couldn’t be all fun and games though, my main mission this weekend was to pick up pieces for work.

eh ‘hem… I would like to make an announcement:

I recently received a promotion and am now the Director of Marketing.
*bows*
Thank You… Thank You…
… Which means I can’t wake up and throw on some scrubs in the mornings, so casual business attire it is!
I was on the hunt for well-fitting slacks all day. I have a hell of a time finding woman’s slacks for woman who do not have a set of nice full hips. I don’t have a very big ass. Nor do I have curvy hips or even much of a waist. Do I wish I did? Yes. But I don’t and I need nice fitting slacks God damn it! On my incredible journey I picked these up along the way:
Wet Seal
$12.80 – Brown Ballet Flats.
$7.99 – Red w/ White Polka Dot Peep-Toe Flats *CLEARANCE*
AND when I got to the register, the lovely boy with beautiful long hair let me know that I could choose another item off the clearance rack for on $.01 … so… …

$.01 – Purple w/ Cheetah Print Yoga Shorts *CLEARANCE*

Charlotte Russe
$14.99 –  Red Pencil Skirt       $16.99 –  White w/ Black Pin Strip Pencil Skirt w/ Black Belt

JC Penney
$10.77 – Grey/Black Jacket w/ Black Belt *CLEARANCE*

But the highlight of my shopping day was Marshall’s (oh, Marshall’s, how I love thee…) and the pieces I am most excited about today have nothing to do with work attire.

Marshall’s

I fell in love with each of these dresses. So whimsical… which you know I love. They’re both made by Myth. I had never heard of them but I’m loving their styles!

$16.99 – Nude/Tan Dress.
Reminds me of the Renaissance Festival! I can’t wait to wear it!
AND! during “Boots Weather” (and you KNOW how crazy I am about my boots) I can pair this with a fabulous pair of knee-highs!
$10.00 – Cream w/ very Pale Pink & Grey “floral-esque” accents *CLEARANCE*

BUT WAIT! As if this Marshall’s experience wasn’t already seemingly completely customized to my tastes, I found and head over heels in love with this:

$19.99 – Leopard Print Bag by Bueno w/ Classic Style Fastening.
Bueno is also responsible for that beautiful green bag I bought a couple of weeks ago!
Mui Bueno!!!

Later that evening, Casey invited me out to drinks with the cast and crew of the latest show he’s been running.  —-I have so much exciting news that I want to post and in general scream aloud, but I have to wait until it’s right. What I will say about Casey’s New Job (Yes, Casey received a very awesome job offer recently as well.) is that GREAT THINGS on just on the horizon, for both Casey and I… for Us… for Acropolis Productions, Inc… and for each of our other creative pursuits!!!—-  He came home to pick me up and I was so happy to have the instant gratification of wearing one of my new favorites:

Daily Threads:
Dress – You know, you’ve just read about. $10.00 on Clearance Marshall’s
Purse: Bueno – $24.99 Marshalls

Jewelry:
Necklace – Lucky Brand – Peace Sign, White Dove, White “Daisies”
Silver Butterfly Ring
Silver and Abalone Bangle

*I really don’t hate children. At least not all of them; mostly I just hate their spineless, hyper-oblivious parents.

"…water bottle full of whiskey in my handbag" -k$

I was lucky enough to have this weekend off!! I took advantage of my downtime with lots and lots of sleep, some cocktails, and fun with friends.

Saturday, I decided to stop by my favorite local used book store to scope out what they had. I picked up Chuck Klosterman‘s IV and a collection of Jean Paul Sartre plays including No Exit. $9 all together. Not too shabby!

After my finds at the Book Exchange, I decided to stop by one of the local thrift stores on a whim and I am so happy I did! I found this adorable vintage rawhide purse!

The moment I flung it over my shoulder I felt like Kate Jackson on my way to kick some ass Charlies Angel’s Style! Only $6!!

On my way home, I stopped at my corner drug store to pick up some cold supplies for Casey who was home sick. While there I spotted some awesome cosmetics deals!!

I picked up these three Sally Hansen Insta-Dri & Xtreme Wear Polishes:

-#22 Jumpin’ Jade $1.25
-#17 Mochachino $1.25
-#40 Purple Pizzazz $.75

and because I’m such a eyeshadow junkie, I couldn’t not pick up one of the L’Oreal HiP duos #336 Devious. $2.07 (I should have just bought a bunch! damn-it)

Over all, a very successful bargain-find day! I love when that happens when you weren’t even planning on it!

Daily Threads: Teal-to-Orange religious iconography t-shirt.($?), Skinny Jeans (Old Navy), Sanuk Flip-flops ($20), Silver Bangels ($? Gift), Jade Beaded Breacelettes ($?), Bone “Sun” ring ($? Honduras), Lucky Brand Oversized Peace Mood Ring ($2[?].00 Macys)

Later, Casey and I went out to Blue Water Grill to see Ryan playing music with his friend.

…After, we hopped over to our regular bar to finish off the night. we had a lot of fun… as we always do! …and I think you can see it in my eyes… damn.

Tonight, Super Bowl Sunday… which I wasn’t even enthused about this year… It should’ve been the NY Jets. 😦 anyway… tonight we made Tacos! and one of my corn chips was shaped like a taco shell, so I made a mini Taco!

Then, J brought home a bunch of wine from his parents house, so we had out own private wine tasting! I’d say tonight was a success as well!!!

Recovery Day

Today I enjoyed one of my last days of freedom before a very busy month at The Lyric starts. Mostly I just hung about the house with Casey.

I got this Bob Marley t-shirt a while back, but it’s pretty flippin’ awesome if you ask me. I loafed around in my comfy jeans and T and paired my outfit with some of my Jade jewelry (I LOVE Jade!) and my humongous Peace ring by Lucky.

I was good today and only had one Starbucks. (bringing my 2011 total up to 6… and we are only two days in.)
