Today’s Target Haul & VersaSpa

photo

I just got home from Target and Tanning and wanted to share with you my beauty haul and tell you a little bit about my first experience with VersaSpa at my local Boca Tanning Club. First, here’s what I picked up at Target:

  • St Ives Naturally Indulgent Body Lotion with Coconut Milk & Orchid Extracts
  • Jergens Shea Butter Moisturizer – travel size (for my purse)
  • Earth Therapeutics Soothing Bead Gel beauty mask
  • Yes To Cucumber Facial Towelettes – travel size (also for my purse since I’ll need to remove my makeup before each of my upcoming tanning sessions.)
  • Maybelline Fit Me concealer in Fair
  • EOS Lip Balm in Summer Fruit
  • Sally Hansen nail files
  • Sally Hansen Double Duty base and top coat
  • Que Bella Purifying Mud Mask with Teatree & Witchhazel
  • Que Bella Refreshing Peel-off Mask with Pomegranate
  • Soho London Kabuki Brush (I actually snagged this at TJ Maxx for $6.99 along with a few soy candles.)

I recently ran out of my go-to concealer (Tarte Amazonian Clay Concealer) and needed to pick one up so I went with the Maybelline Fit Me concealer. I like the Maybelline Fit Me line of products and it’ll hold me over just fine until I get another tube of the Tarte. I had never tried the eos lip balms until today but they came highly recommended so at check-out I threw one of these babies in my basket and I’m happy I did. I don’t necessarily believe this will become one of my must-have items but I definitely like it a lot. I like the little egg-like shape but I know, after a few drinks, i’m going to have trouble sealing it again and destroy my lip balm. The cold face mask, mud mask and peel-off masks I picked-up because, hey, why not? I grabbed some nail equipment because my mind was on the new bottle of essie I bought yesterday, at walgreens, and I’m about to mani-it-up when I’m done with this post.

Ok. So onto the tanning. As a ginger, I don’t do well in the sun. If I can somehow manage to enjoy more than a couple of hours under the sun, I can’t even dream for one second enjoying a beautiful dose of color… unless it’s a beautiful dose of shades ranging from the mild, blush to the painful, bright crimson. My best result is just pink and the worst result could kill me. Of course, like a lot of other people, I do enjoy the way I look (in a bathing suit, especially) with a little bit of a glow. Naturally, over the years I’ve experienced some of the worst results of self tanning but I’ve also had some good results. Recently I’ve been researching VersaSpa spray tanning and reading/hearing a lot of really positive things. I checked out a few youtube videos of other fair skinned girls discussing their results and I liked that those results weren’t extreme; The VersaSpa is subtle but can be easily built up. The process is super fast! After my tutorial from the salon girl, I only spent about five minutes being sprayed. I could see a slight difference immediately and in the past hour and half, I’ve noticed it developing a bit. After about 6-8 hours, the color should be fully developed. (I’ll post an update on how I like the color as well as some of the other products I’ve been using to self tan recently in a future post.)

I decide upon buying a month package at Boca Tanning specifically for the VersaSpa. For a month, I can get unlimited sprays for the price of 3 sprays. Even if I only go once a week, it’s still worth it but since it’s unlimited this month, I might build myself a darker than usual tan for the Fourth of July! Again, why not?

Thanks for reading! Love, GK

Maybe IT IS Maybelline

I was in the market for a new foundation and decided to give Maybelline’s Fit Me Liquid Foundation and Powder in #115 a try. I’m liking it so far, but only time will really tell.

So far I like it because:

  • It’s light coverage, and I don’t really need to correct or hide much.
  • It’s not greasy, like my natural face, and I like to keep it that way.
  • The powder isn’t too “heavy” either. After a pat of some other powders it looks like I’ve been antiqued.

Wedding Week – Bachelorette Party Day/Night!

Today was loaded with fun bachelorette activities.

Shannon, Sarah and I started the day visiting the Bella Lani Nail Spa at Traditions. Shannon wanted a full-on Brazilian wax and the spa wear our other appointments we taking place didn’t do a full brazilian. So we got the earliest appointment and Sarah and I wished Shannon much luck as she walked back to the toture chamber.

The old lady performing the waxing kept pulling the strips prematurely and had to keep relaying them and trying again. (Not that Sarah and I were in the room, Shannon of course filled us in on the details later). Their prices for other services were really good and although I may not trust them with my vagina, I just might use them in the future for other purposes. Shannon was, naturally, a bit disgruntled after that experience, so we set off for breakfast before our other spa appointments.

We all received Mani/Pedis at The Sanctuary Spa at Traditions and Shannon received a must-needed Swedish Massage. It was delightful!

Sitting in birth order. Adorable. and check-out how incredibly amazing my hair looks! (Paul Mitchel Awapuhi Keratin Treatment with Wild Ginger)

After our amazing spa treatments, we shopped around alittle and headed over the the Longhorn Steakhouse for lunch where we met up Shannon’s Best Friend, Briana who was so amazing and had some awesome ink on her arm. We were also joined by Shannon’s soon-to-be mother-in-law and her mother-in-law’s mother-in-law (I cropped them out of this pic for privacy purposes).

After some tanning (I’ve been trying to obtain that “healthy glow”.Operation Tan Ginger is still in effect!), we headed back to our parents house for drinks. On the menu: Margaritas and Champagne, and Shannon was loving her Champagne. With the exception of 3 glasses, she drank the entire bottle… yeah.

We moved the party to my house where Shannon opened more gifts and drank… more Champagne! Kacie assisted with the consumption of this bottle, but Shannon pretty much killed this one on her own too. This time, the champagne was pink and Shannon had traded in her Champagne flute for a Betty Boop Tall Beer Glass… it was fun.

I addition to some sexy lingerie,I gave Shannon lots of cosmetic goodies so she could wear fresh, new makeup on her big day:

Maybelline Fit Foundation – #225
Maybelline Fit Powder – #225
Maybelline Fit Concealer – #25

Rimmel Blush – #003 – Pink Rose
Rimmel Natural Bronzer – #021 – Sunlight

Rimmel Exaggerated Waterproof Eye Definer – (Liner) – #261 Black
Rimmel Exaggerated Waterproof Eye Definer – (Liner) – #211 Brown
Rimmel Extra Super Lash – #101 – Black – *BONUS* Double Pack (Beauty Bargain)

Rimmel Eye Quad Shadow – #002 – Smokey Brown
Rimmel Eye Single Shadow – #100 – Glam Ice (White Shadow in a MUST!)

My favorite drugstore products usually come from Maybelline or Rimmel…of course, there are always exceptions…but since I was giving this to her all at once as kind of a jump-start to her makeup collection and exploration, I wanted to maintain some kind of a theme.

We’re still partying at my house, waiting for glue to dry on our starfish hairclips. I should have planned on doing a crap-load of DYI posts, beacause I could write a damn book a this point. I’ve always just been really crafty.

[*Note to self: More DYI posts!]

Rise’n and Shine’n early in the morning and Shannon shows no sign of slowing down right now!

Tomasko Benefit Concert & Art Auction

Today was the benefit for Gregg John Tomasko, local musician and business owner
who is currently fighting cancer.

The benefit was held at The Pirates Loft
located at The Pirates Cove Resort & Marina in Stuart, Florida.

Casey drove all the way down there before going to work even though he could only stay for short time. My parents met me down there and bought me drinks all afternoon.
It was really nice to be able to spend the afternoon with them.

Me and Alicia, Gregg’s daughter and past cast mate of mine.

Acropolis Productions, Inc donated several pieces of my artwork to be auctioned off.
The charity would retain 100% of the proceeds.

The benefit included bands playing all afternoon by the water including:

The Hot Rods Band
The Monkey Bones

Jerry Tillman and the Hurricanes

Dave and the Waves

Don Ciccone, of The Four Seasons and The Critters
Don Ciccone has been playing in the area with The Critters

Ok, so I loved my outfit for the day.

Strega Nona at The Lyric Theater

Today I worked wardrobe for a children’s musical “Strega Nona” based on the children’s book. I mostly steamed a bunch of the player’s costumes and made a few repairs. (Although, I was needed on headset stage left, briefly, at the beginning of each show, which I wasn’t expecting.) I had a lot of fun and I felt adorable (and quite comfy) in my outfit for the day.

The Navy Blue T was ordered from Forever 21 for like $4 or something.
I also ordered the Navy Blue beret from Forever 21. $2.50, I believe.
The Silver Satchel is Sag Harbor, which I bought at Ross for about $15.

I don’t know where I acquired my gray cardigan,
but it’s little pearl buttonsare my favorite part of it.
I wore my Navy Blue and White Polka Dot ballet flats.
I don’t remember where or when I bought these either
.

I found this clock necklace at Target yesterday! I love it! I just wish it actually worked.

Makeup: I used blue, gray and silver to accomplish my smoky eye of the day. I used an Almay Blue Eyeshadow Trio, Covergirl brown eye pencil and Maybelline Great Lash mascara in blackest black. I added a little shimmer with Mica Bella Mineral Cosmetics.

To accomplish the rest of my face for the day I used my Maybelline Pure Makeup Liquid Foundation and Maybelline Mineral Powder liquid concealer, as always, along with Covergirl powder.
