My ♥ Style

Going Golightly

Today, I channeled my inner Audrey when I chose my daily threads.

Black, classic cut dress. Pearls. Red nails. Red lips. Red heels.

Rocked my purple, leather Nine West purse.

(Because I’ve been too lazy to transfer all my crap)

I also wore my black “old man” sweater to make this more casual for the office. Plus, my office is cold and it was rainy today.

There was no question about whether or not to pile my hair high atop my head in a classic bun, but instead of working to achieve a sleek, polished one, I took the easy road and just bunched my curls and secured my bun with a few bobby-pins. I adorned my power-puff with a pearl clip right in the middle much like Audrey’s hair bling in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

There was no other choice in shades than a pair of my cateyes. I initially grabbed my black pair but opted for the whites to really let them stand out. My other accessories included:

Pearl bracelets, my pearl and onyx ring and my work watch.

But shoes can make an entire outfit and my all black ensemble needed a bold pop.

Enter my deep red Delicious pumps.

I did, however, commit a pretty serious crime of fashion:

I. wore. pantyhose. with. peep-toes!

I KNOOOOW…

Shit happens.

… and I didn’t shave my legs today.

Most days, immediately after taking my photos for my daily post, I change into comfys and lounge about. I don’t exactly feel the need to capture these looks (and I’m, quite frankly, embarrassed by most of them.) but today I figured, “what the hell?”

Hogwarts T, Gym shorts stolen from my ex, flip flops, uncontrollable hair.

Thanks for reading! I’ve been receiving some much appreciated love recently from new readers and I want to sincerely thank all of you. I’m so flattered that anyone actually reads my jibber-jabber and the support I’ve been shown means the world! Thank you.

Love, GK

“made of flesh. made of sand. made of human”

Here’s what I wore today:

It was a laid-back day off of work with plans to surf in the evening. I wore a camel-colored corduroy skirt by Bongo that I got at a thrift store not that long ago for a couple of bucks. I wore a brand new, plain white t that I got from Ross for $7.99 (I go crazy for a fresh white T/tank… I just love them!) I had my usual Sanuk flip flips on and borrowed my friend’s hat that was laying around the boys’ house.

Here’s how I accessorized:

(crappy cell-phone pic) My short silver chain w/ shamrock, long owl necklace, Lucky Brand Peace sign earrings, my claddagh ring, owl ring, silver chain bracelet, silver bangle, Alex & Ani star of venus bangle, earth tone beads and jade beads.

But that wasn’t my only look for the day. Once it was time to head to the beach I had to switch it up.

I borrowed the men’s Levi plaid button up and simply tied it around my waist. I wore a pair of white shorts for a small amount of time as well.

As soon as we got out there, the white shorts came off. Later on, once I was tired of being tossed around like a rag doll, I wore the shirt open and untied without the shorts.

I happened to be wearing the oldest bathing suit I own, but it’s an “old faithful” for me. It’s my black and teal Billabong bikini.

It was a glorious evening at the beach; we didn’t leave until well after the sun went down. The beach at dusk is beautiful… I may not have had any major break-throughs in my surfing “lessons”, but I got some writing down and generally just enjoyed the salty air and warm breeze.

Thanks for reading! Love, GK

Beach Bummin’ It

Ok, I did even worse today than I did yesterday at remembering to capture my Daily Threads look.

I spent most of the afternoon at the beach with the boys and so my attire consisted of my bathing suit, an old pink racer-back tank, my billabong jean shorts and sanuk flip flops. Except, I quickly lost the flip flops and the shorts followed pretty quickly after.

No jewelry. No makeup.

Most of the pictures we took this afternoon were long shots of us playing around along the shore, surfing or playing frisbee. This is a shot of me while playing frizbee. You can see I have on the bikini and the pink tank only at this point.

Pretty far away (I zoomed in as much as I could without it looking all pixely) but here you can at least see the bikini. I love it. It’s an adorable sea-green/teal color (one of my favorites that always looks great on me) and it has an underwire and push-up “technology” similar to the Miraculous Bikini top from Victorias Secret, except I bought this at Target for a fraction of the price and it isn’t as huge and bulky at the VS one.

There ya go. I’m trying to keep my promise and keep up with my Daily Threads. If you like what you read, please subscribe, or bookmark me, whatever… just come back.

Chilled-out Cheetah

I kind of forget, until the end of the day, that I had re-made it my mission to feature my Daily Threads. So, I had a friend quick snap these of me so I could keep the promise I made to myself… for now.

I was enjoying a really low-key relaxing day off of work so I wore a brand new (1st time wearing) white tank that I picked up from Ross for $4.99 and my even newer Cheetah print shorts that I got for $10 on clearance at TJ Maxx the other day.

I wore my usual array of bracelets. Today they included: my silver bangle, my silver chain, earth tone beads, Alex & Ani Star of Venus bangle and a jade beaded bracelet. (I forgot to get any closer pics.) I had my claddagh ring on and some dangley earrings (I don’t know how to describe these). I had my silver shamrock on, as usual, and my owl loop necklace.

I completed my look with my leopard print, cat eye sunglasses and my Louis Vuitton Speedy 25. My Speedy is actually one of my newest acquisitions. I bought it second had and had it authenticated; I got a fabulous deal on the price (after some serious negotiating thank you very much.). I also love my “Mint Sorbet” nail polish!

Thats it! Thanks for reading! Please subscribe up top and you can also follow me on Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram!

The Girl in the Blue Scarf.

This week at work, I’ve really been trying to take advantage of the regular office hours and opportunity to dress a bit more casual. (We’ve had a local production company renting the theatre.) Today I wore my brand new blue scarf! Casey’s parents got it for me as part of my birthday gift and I love it. (Last night we celebrated his mom’s and my birthday… each a little late)

To show it off, I went super casual with a classic jeans and white T pairing. It’s been chilly (which I also try and take advantage of while it lasts) so I chose a long sleeve T. I always wear boots as much as possible while it’s cold. (I just love cold weather clothing.)

I completely forgot about my purple lotus earrings, but I found them and wore them today too. There’s a hint of blue in the flowers and the royal blue scarf really brings that out.
