July 2013 :: Ipsy :: Beach Beauty

July 2013 Ipsy Glam Bag :: Beach Beauty

Here’s what my Ipsy Glam Bag contained this month:

  • BH Cosmetics California Collection Eyeshadow Sample Pallet – Hollywood, a deep, royal purple. San Francisco,  bronze. and Malibu, gold.

I love expanding my eyeshadow collection at any opportunity but unfortunately, I wasn’t thrilled with BH Cosmetics’ quality. The colors are fun but, in addition to having very little pigmentation, the durability for all day wear just isn’t here.

  • Pop Beauty Pouty Pop Crayon in Coral Crush

Love this color! I also love that this lip crayon twists up to avoid the need for sharpening. Too quality isn’t with this product either. However, I anticipate having to reapply lip color and therefore, won’t hold it’s short term results against this product. What I will hold against the Pop crayon is its tendency to clump/flake and look a bit “crusty”.

  • Coola mineral sunscreen and moisturizer.

I am in love so far. My skin feels soft but not greasy.

  • Nailtini Nail Polish in Mai Tai

This fun coral color is a new fav of mine. A bit disappointed at receiving more nail lacquer though.

  • Big Sexy Hair Weather Proof Spray

I love this product! I’ve used it before and was not disappointed at receiving this in my July bag. The perfect defense against humidity! I use this product when I get the wild urge to straighten my hair.

Overall, I wasn’t overly impressed with this bag; I wasn’t incredibly disappointed either.

January 2013 :: Ipsy :: Super Stars

The January 2013 Ipsy My Glam Bag, Super Stars, was packed with some pretty amazing products. In fact, there isn’t a product in this bag that I do not use and love. This month’s bag included:

Big Sexy Hair – Spray & Play Volumizing Hairspray ($17.50/10.6 oz)
Your everyday spray for BIG volume!  Spray & Play is a humidity resistant, flexible hold hairspray that provides fullness, lift and incredible shine!

Nailtini – Straight Up Color Nail Lacquer in Bloody Mary ($13.00/0.5 oz)
You can’t go wrong with a classic, all the way to your fingertips.  These two are the all-time best selling Nailtini nail lacquers.  Whether the glossy true-red of bloody mary or the hint-of-pink of frappe, your tips and toes are classic perfection anytime.

Josie Maran – 100% Pure Argan Oil ($48/1.7 oz)
This 100% Pure Argan Oil is a legendary oil that’s rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids, and grown organically in Morocco.  With its multitasking benefits, Argan Oil can be used for many areas including hydrating and nourishing skin as a daily moisturizer, skin treatment, treating slit ends, and softening cuticles.

SOHO – Crease Brush ($7.99/each)
Brushes featuring a tri-grip handle that fits perfectly in the hand.

Pacifica – Tuscan Blood Orange Body Butter ($7.00/2.5 oz)
Tuscan Blood Orange Body Butter is not only a highly effective antioxidant rich moisturizer that nourishes the driest of skin and helps fight off the signs of aging; it nourishes your other senses as well. The infusion of sparkling, juicy blood oranges that are highlighted with notes of red raspberry and spicy sweet Italian Mandarins take you to the beaches of the Mediterranean.

My two favorites this month are the Body Butter by Pacifica (smells amazing and feels even better.) and the crease brush by SOHO. Over the last year or so I’ve been using brushes and this one and is a great addition to my growing collection.

I’ll say it again, I’m sick of receiving nail polish even though I do love nailtini polishes and a classic red mani is nearly as amazing a classic red lip.

November 2012 :: Ipsy Glam Bag :: Party Perfect

My very first Ipsy Glam Bag!! I am so excited to post this just as I was so excited to receive these fantastic goodies. For the same monthly subscription fee as the-box-that-shall-not-be-named, Ipsy packs your delightful little cosmetics bag with true deluxe samples! I can’t wait, so let’s dive straight in!

Dah-Dah-Dah-DAAAAHHH. My November 2012 Ipsy Bag! And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the five products I received!

Nailtini :: Nail Lacquer :: Millionaire – A full size bottle of nail polish? You sure know how to win this girl over, Ipsy! As my readers know, I am a complete nail polish junkie and this positively peppy glitter coat from Nailtini is perfect for fun, holiday nails. Gold and Teal flecks of glitter reflect pinks, blues, purples and of course GOLD. Covers really well with a substantial amount of glitter. If you are looking to add a hint of glitz, this is not your polish. The same makers have lines called Liptini and Eyetini as well and I’d love to give some of those products a try!

The Balm Cosmetics :: Meet Matt(e) Eyeshadow :: Matt Batali – This is my first experience with any of the products from The Balm Cosmetics. First impression: I adore their kitschy, 50’s nostalgia inspired packaging. This line of matte eyeshadows has fun with their names and each color in the line is named “Matt ____”. Matt Batali is a dark, smokey, purpley-brown-grey… best way to describe the color… and I do love a nice smokey eye so I will use this baby up! The packaging is cute with a magnetic close hidden away in there somewhere so the sample snaps shut when you’re not using it.

bareMinerals :: Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss :: Dare Devil – This isn’t my first experience with a Marvelous Moxie gloss. I’m actually a huge fan so receiving this is just awesome! This is a product that I would/have/will buy so I was thrilled when it was included in my November 2012 Ipsy bag. This color is Dare Devil and it is a beautiful, glossy, merlot-esque color, perfect for mine and many complexions.

Starlet Cosmetics :: Intensen Eyeliner :: Chocolate – Apparently, this is NOT a full size sample. (Seems full size to me.) Its a chocolate brown pencil and I will put this to some real good use. When I use a pencil to line my lids, I usually opt for brown. (Liquids I usually use black and “fun” colors). Great for everyday wear. It applies smooth and stays put all day. I’d never heard of Starlet Cosmetics before but now that they are on my radar, I will certainly consider buying more of their pencils in the future.

This month, each Ipster received one of two other samples along with the above featured. They either received the Chella Eyebrow Defining Gel or the product I received:

benefit :: They’re Real beyond mascara – a highly coveted item this month, I was very pleased to find this mascara sample tucked inside my Ipsy bag. Although, I would have been happy to receive the brow gel, when I received the email about the two choices, I was hoping to receive the mascara. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to try the Chella brow gel in a future bag!

That was it. My very first Ipsy Bag! I can’t wait for my December bag! I am so pleased that I have cancelled my Birchbox subscription and signed up for Ipsy. I’m a very, VERY happy beauty subscriber. Way to hit it out of the park, Ipsy! And thanks to the other bloggers whose Ipsy review posts pushed me to sign up.
