February 2014 :: Ipsy Glam Bag :: The Look of Love

The Look Of Love

February 2014 Ipsy Glam Bag

This month’s glam bag was alright for me. I’m not thrilled about any of the products inside but I’m happy I didn’t receive any repeats (unless you count the Zoya polish but it’s always a new color and I love nail polish soooo…). The theme for February was “The Look of Love” and thats not surprising since most people think Valentine’s Day when they think February. How come more people don’t think of Presidents Day or Groundhog Day? Two of our most influential presidents were February born but we all fixate upon a Christian Saint’s Day represented by a Roman/Greek God depicted as a chubby magical baby shooting arrows of love through the hearts of humans. But I digress. This month’s romantic-themed products came about a week too late to use on the big day and I’m actually a bit annoyed with that too. I used to count on receiving my glam bag around the 10th-12th of each month; it seems recently my bag arrives later and later. Who am I to pass judgement though? I’ve never been on time for anything in my life.

  • Zoya – Nail Polish in Odette – I’m a fan of Zoya and 100% because of the numbers bottles I’ve received from my various beauty box subscriptions over the past year and half. I’m a fan of purples and am happy to have this new color in my collection.
  • First Aid Beauty – Skin Rescue Deep Cleansing with Red Clay – I haven’t given this product a try yet but I’m looking forward to doing so.
  • Pop Beauty – Plump Pout Mini in Peony Petal – I like Pop Beauty products and there has been no shortage of products from this company in my glam bags since my first delivery. I like this gloss and the color is fun and feminine. Feels good to apply and even better to wear. The tint lasts for a while but reapplications are a must when wearing out. (Otherwise you get that left-over super ring of color around the lip line.)
  • City Color – Be Matte Blush in – I’m not familiar with City Color and was concerned this product was a little “cheap” for Ipsy. The color is light but effective and very pigmented. Not a lot is needed for a soft peachy-pink cheek.
  • Tini Beauty – Eyetini Cordial Cream Shadow + Base in One in Ambrosia – I really like this eye shadow and the Tini products often prove to be quite good quality. I was excited to find this one in my bag and it is by far my favorite product that I received this month.

The colors of each product appear a bit lighter in this photo but they’re all pretty and girlie and I’ll have a lot of fun adding these to my looks. Thanks to you guys using my personal link to sign up to be an Ipster, I’ve accrued a decent amount of Ipsy Points and was able to cash in a few of them on some additional products that I also received this month.

Additionally, I received High Beam highlighter from Benefit and Salon Secrets Nail Art Starter Kit from Kiss. I absolutely love High Beam from Benefit and have used it in the past. I’m pretty jazzed to play around the all the tacky goodness the Kiss Nail Art Kit provides too! I redeemed points for an NYX Bronze Smokey Eye Kit too but didn’t receive it with this delivery. (Maybe next month?) I really hope Ipsy changes up their selection of redeemable points products soon. Once you redeem your points for one of the available products, you can’t redeem points for a duplicate and they’re seemingly very slow to update those options. I have more points to trade it and am looking forward to doing so soon! As a loyal Ipster and one who has recommended several new Ipsters, I’d like to take advantage of my points as quickly and as often as possible.

December 2013 :: Ipsy Glam Bag :: Celebration

Ipsy’s December 2013 Glam Bag

This month’s bag is a fun one for me. Nothing inside is particularly “must-have” but it’ll be nice having them about, I suppose.  Here’s what was included in my bag:

  • Be A Bombshell Cosmetics – The One Stick in Girl Crush – Cheeks, lips, even eyes, The One Stick is good for it all. Girl Crush is a very soft, iridescent pink. I love doing a bold eye and this color is perfect for a complimentary subtle cheek.
  • Nicka K New York – Nail Polis in NY112 – It’s a deep mauve, a favorite nail color of mine. I’ve yet to properly access it’s durability but I’ll definitely get the chance soon when I give this polish a try.
  • NYX – Lipstick in Iced Honey – Very sheer, peachy-pink. Not a lot to this lip color, just gives a nice shimmer.
  • Pop Beauty – Eye Shadow Trio in Bright Up Your Life – Pretty decently pigmented, this trio is perfect for building a classic smokey eye.
  • Ardell – False Demi Eyelashes in Black – I’m no flasies professional, but as far as I can tell, eyelashes are eyelashes and the secret is in the application… which I happen to suck at. I’m willing to give it another try this new years, though.

A closer look

I’m going to have some fun with my New Year’s Even look and just might include one or two of these. Thanks for reading! If you’re interested in becoming an Ipsy Subscriber, you can CLICK HERE and do so. (Clicking my link earns me Ipsy points so thank you in advance!)

July 2013 :: Ipsy :: Beach Beauty

July 2013 Ipsy Glam Bag :: Beach Beauty

Here’s what my Ipsy Glam Bag contained this month:

  • BH Cosmetics California Collection Eyeshadow Sample Pallet – Hollywood, a deep, royal purple. San Francisco,  bronze. and Malibu, gold.

I love expanding my eyeshadow collection at any opportunity but unfortunately, I wasn’t thrilled with BH Cosmetics’ quality. The colors are fun but, in addition to having very little pigmentation, the durability for all day wear just isn’t here.

  • Pop Beauty Pouty Pop Crayon in Coral Crush

Love this color! I also love that this lip crayon twists up to avoid the need for sharpening. Too quality isn’t with this product either. However, I anticipate having to reapply lip color and therefore, won’t hold it’s short term results against this product. What I will hold against the Pop crayon is its tendency to clump/flake and look a bit “crusty”.

  • Coola mineral sunscreen and moisturizer.

I am in love so far. My skin feels soft but not greasy.

  • Nailtini Nail Polish in Mai Tai

This fun coral color is a new fav of mine. A bit disappointed at receiving more nail lacquer though.

  • Big Sexy Hair Weather Proof Spray

I love this product! I’ve used it before and was not disappointed at receiving this in my July bag. The perfect defense against humidity! I use this product when I get the wild urge to straighten my hair.

Overall, I wasn’t overly impressed with this bag; I wasn’t incredibly disappointed either.

February 2013 :: Ipsy :: Red Carpet Ready

February’s MyGlam Bag by Ipsy was a fabulous one! 3 out of the 5 samples are amazing and new favorites of mine! I’ll definitely give the lash guards a try, but don’t see myself using these regularly and the Coastal Scents eyeshadow samples will, of course, be used as I am already a fan of their shadows but the other products really “wowed” me! Here’s what my box contained:

Coastal Scents – Shadow Palette Sample ($24.95/252 Shadows*)
Coastal Scents Shadow Palette Samples are an ideal way to try these highly pigmented, stunning shadows.  These miniature-sized samples contain four hand-selected shadows by Ipsy, making it easy to create a variety of looks. Wear these pressed powders dry or wet for a more intese, dramatic look.

Pixi – Flawless & Poreless Primer ($29.00/1.01 oz)
The Pixi Flawless & Poreless primer creates a beautiful no-shine finish for flawless, long-lasting makeup application.  This shine controlling, oil-free primer smooths out fine lines and hydrates while making pores instantly disappear.  It is the perfect skin primer for all complexions and all skin types.

POP Beauty – Smokey Lash Kapow Mascara ($18.50/0.25 oz)
This lash-POP-ing mascara makes lashes plump, long and lusciously flirty!  Smudge proof formula adds volume while curling lashes up and out for a look that truly POPs your peepers!

Lash Card – The Lash Card ($6.99/10 pack)
Apply your mascara perfectly with the Lash Card!  Say goodbye to smudging, clumping, and messy mascara application.  The Lash Card has two curves on each side that fit a variety of eye shapes, making it easy to get those hard-to-reach lashes.

MicaBeauty – Gel Eyeliner ($35.00/0.18 oz)
Define eyes and apply eyeliner like a pro with the MicaBeauty Gel Eyeliner!  This smooth, highly pigmented gel eyeliner glides over the lid evenly and dries quickly for a long-wearing, smudge-proof finish.

I’m super stoked to use that Gel Eyeliner! I don’t have a lot of experience with gel liners, but this black is the perfect addition to my eye collection! My fondness for Pop Cosmetics as well as Pixi grows more and more every time I use a new product of each of theres.
