Nars Lip Glosses

IMG_1723

As part of my recent birthday beauty splurge, I bought two new lip glosses from Nars off of Sephora.com. The two shades I chose were Bad Education and Coup De Coeur.

Bad Education is the perfect red gloss to top off a bold red lip. The other night I paired this gloss with my Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate lipstick in Kiss of Life. (This is one of my favorite red lipsticks mostly because it has “Kate” written on it all pretty.) It look fantastic. A couple of reapplies though out the night, but a fabulous red lip!

Coup De Coeur is a warm medium brown color with some red tones mixed in. I haven’t put this color to any “real” use yet but I can’t wait to do so.

Both of these glosses were only $10 on sephora so I’m thinking Nars may be discontinuing them. Kind of a bummer, if thats the case, since both of these colors are fantastic.  Below is a quick swatch on my very fair skin.

Funshine State Saturday

I love my outfits most on days I have off of work. I woke up super early today (6:30am!) and I set out to capture the sunrise with my canon. Later, I spent the beautiful afternoon with friends and conned one of them, my former personal photographer, to snap some pics for my post today.

My favorite thing about this dress are the bubble sleeves. They actually extend all the way down to an elastic wrist but I pulled them up to my elbow for the day. I accessorized with my purple nine west leather purse, various bracelets, my long owl necklace and several silver rings.

I always feel better when someone else takes the pics for me. Not only do I feel less like a lame-ass but I get to play around a bit more.

While out and about, I had to pick up some of my absolute must-have beauty products that I had run out of. (I hate when I run out of a crap-load my products all at once.)

  • ic inner cellular hair polish
  • Garnier Sleak and Shine Anti-Humidity smoothing milk
  • new toothbrush
  • new loufa
  • yes to Cucumber soothing makeup remover wipes
  • Apricot Scrub (just as good as the St Ives equivalent)
  • Neutrogena pink grapefruit Body Clear Body Wash
  • Rimmel white eye shadow

Wedding Week – Bachelorette Party Day/Night!

Today was loaded with fun bachelorette activities.

Shannon, Sarah and I started the day visiting the Bella Lani Nail Spa at Traditions. Shannon wanted a full-on Brazilian wax and the spa wear our other appointments we taking place didn’t do a full brazilian. So we got the earliest appointment and Sarah and I wished Shannon much luck as she walked back to the toture chamber.

The old lady performing the waxing kept pulling the strips prematurely and had to keep relaying them and trying again. (Not that Sarah and I were in the room, Shannon of course filled us in on the details later). Their prices for other services were really good and although I may not trust them with my vagina, I just might use them in the future for other purposes. Shannon was, naturally, a bit disgruntled after that experience, so we set off for breakfast before our other spa appointments.

We all received Mani/Pedis at The Sanctuary Spa at Traditions and Shannon received a must-needed Swedish Massage. It was delightful!

Sitting in birth order. Adorable. and check-out how incredibly amazing my hair looks! (Paul Mitchel Awapuhi Keratin Treatment with Wild Ginger)

After our amazing spa treatments, we shopped around alittle and headed over the the Longhorn Steakhouse for lunch where we met up Shannon’s Best Friend, Briana who was so amazing and had some awesome ink on her arm. We were also joined by Shannon’s soon-to-be mother-in-law and her mother-in-law’s mother-in-law (I cropped them out of this pic for privacy purposes).

After some tanning (I’ve been trying to obtain that “healthy glow”.Operation Tan Ginger is still in effect!), we headed back to our parents house for drinks. On the menu: Margaritas and Champagne, and Shannon was loving her Champagne. With the exception of 3 glasses, she drank the entire bottle… yeah.

We moved the party to my house where Shannon opened more gifts and drank… more Champagne! Kacie assisted with the consumption of this bottle, but Shannon pretty much killed this one on her own too. This time, the champagne was pink and Shannon had traded in her Champagne flute for a Betty Boop Tall Beer Glass… it was fun.

I addition to some sexy lingerie,I gave Shannon lots of cosmetic goodies so she could wear fresh, new makeup on her big day:

Maybelline Fit Foundation – #225
Maybelline Fit Powder – #225
Maybelline Fit Concealer – #25

Rimmel Blush – #003 – Pink Rose
Rimmel Natural Bronzer – #021 – Sunlight

Rimmel Exaggerated Waterproof Eye Definer – (Liner) – #261 Black
Rimmel Exaggerated Waterproof Eye Definer – (Liner) – #211 Brown
Rimmel Extra Super Lash – #101 – Black – *BONUS* Double Pack (Beauty Bargain)

Rimmel Eye Quad Shadow – #002 – Smokey Brown
Rimmel Eye Single Shadow – #100 – Glam Ice (White Shadow in a MUST!)

My favorite drugstore products usually come from Maybelline or Rimmel…of course, there are always exceptions…but since I was giving this to her all at once as kind of a jump-start to her makeup collection and exploration, I wanted to maintain some kind of a theme.

We’re still partying at my house, waiting for glue to dry on our starfish hairclips. I should have planned on doing a crap-load of DYI posts, beacause I could write a damn book a this point. I’ve always just been really crafty.

[*Note to self: More DYI posts!]

Rise’n and Shine’n early in the morning and Shannon shows no sign of slowing down right now!

Tomasko Benefit Concert & Art Auction

Today was the benefit for Gregg John Tomasko, local musician and business owner
who is currently fighting cancer.

The benefit was held at The Pirates Loft
located at The Pirates Cove Resort & Marina in Stuart, Florida.

Casey drove all the way down there before going to work even though he could only stay for short time. My parents met me down there and bought me drinks all afternoon.
It was really nice to be able to spend the afternoon with them.

Me and Alicia, Gregg’s daughter and past cast mate of mine.

Acropolis Productions, Inc donated several pieces of my artwork to be auctioned off.
The charity would retain 100% of the proceeds.

The benefit included bands playing all afternoon by the water including:

The Hot Rods Band
The Monkey Bones

Jerry Tillman and the Hurricanes

Dave and the Waves

Don Ciccone, of The Four Seasons and The Critters
Don Ciccone has been playing in the area with The Critters

Ok, so I loved my outfit for the day.

AMA Red Carpet & Beauty Bargains

Tonight were the American Music Awards… and I can’t resist a Red Carpet… *insert Ginger joke here*… So here are a some of what I thought were the best and worst looks.

Lets just get to it and start with some of The Worst ensembles.

Avril Lavigne (why are you here?),
Nicki Minaj (Ok, we get it. You can be the Rap Gaga),
and Ke$ha (Not that Ke$ha ever dresses well).

… and her makeup was ridiculous… I love that she goes for it though.
In fact, I really really hate to admit it. and I fought it,
but I love Ke$ha… maybe not quite love yet.
-She still dresses horrible-

Oh, what an adorable dress on Miley…
Hang on, did she get a roll of toilet paper stuck in the back of her panties?
No, it’s just an ugly, unnecessary, obnoxious train… on her mini dress.

Some of The Good looks that I liked:

Jenny McCarthy lookin’ fab.
Rhianna, R&B Favorite Female Artist Winner, looked great.
Kelly Osbourne in Dior. Her hair looks kind of stiff though.

I personally, don’t particularly care for Miss Swift,
but her look was fantastic. I love how Mod and Sparkely it all is!
She also won Country Favorite Female Artist.

But my personal pick for Best Dressed is Katy Perry!!!

Her dress is Badgley Mischka and her heels are Brian Atwood.
Her look is all amazing.

The makeup was beautiful too!
I love how cute and feminine Katy looked.
I do ♥ Katy.
(I didn’t want to for so long… but I do.)

Oh, and let me not forget to mention the anticipated NKOTBSB performance.
The New Kids on the Block and The Backstreet Boys teamed up. So. Feel free to watch. It was a medley/remix of multiple songs from both groups. Notes were missed. Breathing was heavy. and whats even more sad, is that NKOTB totally showed up BSB. And they’re way older. I wont get into that pathetic excuse for a dance breakdown… all I’ll say is *NSYNC would have hit that sh*t!

I stopped by Walgreens tonight and ran into a few Beauty Bargains! I was super excited!

  • I picked up a Neutogena Mineral Sheer Concealer Kit.- #05 Fair- I this stuff; it covers so well. It’s light and smooth. The “kit” has two steps. The First is the cream concealer and the Second in the translucent setting powder. -$7.19 SALE
  • Rimmel London Stay Matte Clarifying Matte Foundation – #102 Warm Ivory- This foundation has a small amount of salicylic acid and other botanical extracts to help clear skin. It’s a little thick, but the Matte finish is perfect for shows. Usually my stage makeup causes me to breakout after being under the lights, so I hope this will help. -$3.99 SALE
  • Rimmel London Eye Shadow Trio in #407 Dark Angel, soon to be discontinued. I’m a eye shadow addict so I couldn’t resist. -$2.79 SALE
  • I also picked up a bottle of Sinful Colours nail polish. It’s black with blue sparkles called “What’s Your Name”. This brand is always $1.99 at Walgreens. (I ALWAYS use Sally Hansen’s Hard As Nails nail growth base coat and Sally Hansen’s Super Shine Top Coat so I don’t mind spending $2 on a cheap polish… I like having a large variety at home at my disposal.)

Here’s how the polish looks. You can’t really see the blue sparkles. 😦

I also picked up the December issue of InStyle.
I can’t wait to really read through it.
