I Quit [Smoking]! Day #3, #4 & #5? & Married to Rock

So yesterday and Wednesday I worked from 7:45 am – 8:30/45ish pm… So I smoked. About every two hours I smoked. That would bring each day’s total to at least 8 and then once I got home I had a few more. Today I worked from Noon to about 8:20pm and, once again, about every two hours I stepped outside for a cigarette. (But it WAS incredibly gorgeous outside today… I would have used any excuse to go out there.) So… I haven’t quit smoking. I will. I really will. But cold turkey is not my thing (I tried quitting once before and I obviously started smoking again).

-Better luck next time I guess.

Moving on… E! will be premiering a new show on November 7th at 10:30pm called Married to Rock. Now, I do enjoy a good old fashioned guilty pleasure “reality” show. I loved Rock of Love and the subsequent seasons; I can’t help it (I even got sucked into Jersey Shore and made a very hard attempt not to). However, I am also fully capable (unlike a lot of others) of picking my reality show battles… I pass on most. So I have the DVR set to record it, but I think I’m going to be disappointed. From what I know about the four woman chosen for this show they are super lame, super boring and super… not so pretty anymore.

All four of them kind of look like transvestites; transvestites that have undergone A LOT of surgery. I totally get it, I love Rock and Roll culture; plasticly-modified, wild women are the chosen girlfriends and brides… but they’re usually smoking hot… all over. These “ladies” just aren’t. In fact they’re old. And, from what I’ve seen in the previews, obnoxious. And who doesn’t love their reality stars obnoxious? That’s why we watch. But these broads, so far, have very few redeeming or endearing qualities about them. Ya gotta give me something

Not to mention, I can think of a million other rockstar wives that are way Hotter, way more Successful and way more Interesting who are married to way more Awesome Rockers. (I guess they’re all too busy being awesome to do this show.) I’ll be watching regardless, but I doubt I’ll fall in love with the series. Here’s some info on these chicks:

Susan Holmes McKagan
Married to Duff McKagan, Guns and Roses Bassist.
Susan is a former Super Model (a legitimate one) and from what I can tell so far, the least annoying and most impressive of the women.

AJ Celi
Dating The Cult Guitarist, Billy Duffy
So… she promotes nightclubs, I guess? …She works with night clubs… I don’t know.
And I thought the show was MARRIED to Rock, not the most current girlfriend of a sub-par rock “star”. She strikes me as one who will annoy me a lot.

Etty Farrell
Married to Jane’s Addiction’s Perry Farrell
Etty is a dancer, choreographer, roadie? She seems ok.
Perhaps a bit too self-righteous

Josie Stevens
Married to Guitarist Steve Stevens
… she posed “in the pages of” Playboy…
(*Please note, posing in Playboy is NOT the same or remotely close to being chosen as a Centerfold… and while we’re on topic, being a Playboy cyber girl, is even worse.)
I think this one’s going to annoy me too.

I guess I’ll just have to watch and see if I am to be proven wrong. Perhaps I will love the show and record every episode or I might just get sick of the lame-ass ladies on it. Someone I do love on TV also has a show premiering this week, CONAN O’BRIEN!!!

Conan’s new late night talk show will premier on TBS on November 8 at 11pm.
& I might actually watch TBS…

My thoughts on the VMAs

Last night’s VMAs were huge. At least the stage was. I thought the stage looked amazing, but the acts and artists that I enjoy(ed) were few and far between. I used to get so excited about the VMAs, and I still tune in and watch, but most of the artists being played on MTV I just don’t care about or like. It makes me feel super old… this is bullshit. And for that matter, I’d just like to say, as a side note, that bands like Sublime shouldn’t be being played on Classic Rock radio yet… it’s depressing.

Anyway, here’s what I thought about the VMAs:

It was obviously Lady Gaga’s night.
She won several awards including Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year.
Like last year’s VMAs, she made several wardrobe changes.
My personal favorite was her first dress from Alexander McQueen.

The second look by Armani was so heavy,
L.G. had difficulty getting on stage for her Best Pop Video award.
Before I could begin to mumble some smart ass comment about her not being able to move,
L.G. admitted to not planning her wardrobe quite well enough for function,
she joked that she wasn’t planning on winning so much.

She donned her final outfit, the meat dress,
when she picked up her Video of the Year award.
The award was presented by: CHER!

How awesome!? This was probably my favorite moment of the night
(mostly because I have the soul of a gay man.)
I mean, it’s CHER for Christ’s sake.

I had heard the song “Dogs Days are Over” before, but only a couple of times,
and not in it’s entirety. Florence and the Machine’s performance of their song
was another favorite moment of mine. I just love her whimsical style!

Ok. Taylor Swift. You make it really difficult for me to like you.
All your songs are about fairy tales and princesses and bullshit.
I actually felt bad when you were interrupted by Kanye at last year’s awards,
(even though I totally agreed with him.), but with this song and the opening video montage to your “devastating” experience last year, I just want to slap you more than ever.

We get it, Kanye hurt your feelings,
but have you really been obsessing over it for the past year?

Ok, let’s look at some clothes.

I didn’t want to, and I still don’t want to like Ke$ha…
but for some reason I do. I hated her outfit though.

I find myself going back and forth about whether I love or hate Katy Perry.
As of recent I don’t care very much for her. I liked her look though.
I guess I love her again.

I’ve always loved Justin Timberlake, and I always will.
I’ve seen him look better than this, I just wanted to include a picture of him.

I just love Emma Stone. So here she is:

I don’t like or give a crap about Ciara, but I thought her dress was pretty awesome.

I thought Ashley Greene was the best looking of the night.
I mean, the girl is just gorgeous, but her outfit was also amazing.

Usher’s performance was cool, but 90% because of the lights.

I loved that Eminem bailed after his show-opening performance.

I’ve heard a lot about Justin Beiber recently but I had never heard or seen him do anything until his performance last night; I’m happy to announce that I am immune to Beiber-Fever.

I hate Linkin Park and all I could think as they were performing was: “God save us” from this bullshit they’re calling metal. and if there’s a rock and roll heaven, the only place Linkin Park will “burn” is in rock and roll hell for all their sins.

I don’t like Paramore’s songs anytime I hear them on the radio. I don’t. But for some reason when I see them perform live, I always enjoy and am impressed with it. (They opened for No Doubt last year and they put on an amazing show!)

Kanye’s performance outfit was ugly.

That’s pretty much all I really thought about the show. Chelsea Handler is always hit or miss with me and it’s too bad she’s not funnier when she’s wasted.

Dave Matthews Band Concert. West Palm Beach, FL

Last night, Casey, Cromer, Ryan and I went to the Dave Matthews Band concert at the Cruzan Amphitheater in West Palm Beach. It was amazing!

I was lovin’ my chosen ensemble, lets have a look.

I bought the shirt and Billabong shorts at Marshall’s.
I think I paid $14.99 for the shorts and $12.99 for the shirt.
I found the bag at Target on clearance earlier in the day. I love the Mustard color of it.

I found these awesome sparrow earrings ($3.99) along with the blinged-out aviators ($5.99)

at Beall’s Outlet earlier in the day as well.

We got down there early enough to party in the parking lot pre-show. However it rained pretty hard so we spent that time drinking in the car.

Ryan, Me & Casey. Pre-Concert
No More Jack. 😦
Cromer & Ryan feelin’ good.

Eventually we made our way up to the gates and claimed a spot on the lawn. As the sun was going down, and the sky was beautiful pink and orange, we got to watch a pretty stellar lightning show. It was perfect. Then the band came out and smoke permeated all around the amphitheater.

The sky was beautiful.
The Dave Matthews Band

It was a phenomenal show! They played a great mix of radio-played favorites but mostly lesser-known fan favorites. It was such an amazing show!

As wonderful as the Dave Matthews concert was, I’m disappointed that I havn’t gone to many shows this summer. To be honest, there wasn’t a whole lot of people I wanted to see this year. I’m looking forward to some Fall tours this year though. I’m hoping to see a couple of those. And Jack Johnson plays at the end of August, I may try and see him while hes down here.

PS: Dave was totally rockin’ a Deep V-Neck T Daniel Tosh Style.

Deep V’s!!!
