How ’bout these apples?

I had written myself a prescription for some intensive retail therapy and today I had my rx filled. After meeting up with a client/friend/ex-coworker for lunch at (the absolutely delicious and addicting) Dales, I hit up a thrift store where i made some major scores.

– A pair of amazing royal blue suede heels: $5
– An adorable zebra print cardigan: $3 (you all know just how much I love cardigans and zebra print!)
– White and Royal Blue horizontal striped sweater: $6 (it’s really a dress and really quite too thin to be qualified as a sweater-dress and surprising large for a size 4 dress…)

I stopped by TJMaxx after the thrift store score for a bump on my bargain-finding high but left empty handed. I found myself in houndstooth heaven and pined over a Steve Madden bag but decided against buying it. (I have the feeling I’ll regret it. I might actually go back tomorrow for it.)

Driving toward home, I decided I was definitely not going to stop at Marshall’s or Ross. Nope. Just heading home. So of course I turned into the plaza, parked and strutted into Ross looking for more discounted deliciousness. I found it.

In Ross I found a completely adorable, floral print, long sleeve dress, on clearance, for $8.49. Perfect for fall! (It’s hard to describe but pics will be posted as soon as I get a chance to rock this baby.)

I also bought at Ross… … Bright. Red. Jeggings. I never thought I’d say that but I did. I had contemplated red jeans in the past but completely scoffed at jeggings. However, all I could think of was how awesome they will look paired with the huge, size “4”, not-so-sweater [dress] and those blue heels! So i took the plunge and bought the jeggings.

Anyway, theres my shopping tales of the day. Here’s what I wore today (and yesterday):

Red shorts from Forever21, Beatles T and my Apple sunglasses from ASOS.

I thought the Apple Shades and The Beatles T went well together (and not just because of the color).

Yesterday, I was pretty bummed. I wasn’t well, missed an [open] audition I was really psyched about and had to call out of work. I loafed around the house miserably all day, moping, so my fabulous Mom made me (and the rest of the family I supposed) chocolate cupcakes!!

To hide my unpretty for the day, I threw on a fedora and faux specs for the pics. The flower clips in my unwashed, messy bushel of hair make it actually look done. (Curly hair really has its perks.)

That’s all for today. I’m lazily posting from my iPhone again so please excuse the poor quality pics and whatever weird typing issues that may reveal themselves post publishing.

Love, GK

I’d also just like to add that today in rock & roll history, Jim Morrison was arrested for a bogus indecent exposure charge he’d been facing as a result of a March 1, 1969 show in Coconut Grove (Miami) show. He died in Paris on July 3, 1971 before the case had gone to trial. -No need to google, I just know this shit.

On the Edge & In Style

Today, I got to wear the outfit I was planning on wearing last night to the Jason Mraz concert. After we had our South Florida, daily, afternoon rains, I was hesitant to wear my brand new dress on the wet lawn so I made a last minute change in attire.

When my best girlfriend and I made plans for drinks on the water tonight, I was happy for the opportunity to wear my new dress! Here’s what I wore:

The dress, I picked up at Marshall’s for $12.99

The bag is brand new as well, Nine West. Again, Marshall’s and I only paid $14.99. I had been looking for a small bag to use at the concert and was very pleased with this find.

My usual Sanuk flip-flops (I swear I live in these things down here in South Florida).

I used a belt from another dress around the waist just to break it up a bit.

Second day in a row rocking the aviator shades.

“K” and I enjoyed our drinks and a light dinner right on the water of an awesome spot called On the Edge in Ft Pierce and took in the music played by another close friend of ours. Here’s a couple of shots of the beautiful view we enjoyed as the sun went down:

Can’t beat that!

Arts Supply Shopping Style!

Today, I picked up some art supplies on the cheap by taking advantage of some awesome coupons and sales at Michael’s. Afterwards, I was taken on a sweet and casual FroYo “date”. Here’s what I wore:

My new favorite (leopard print) shorts. A mint green (very) sheer top from Charlotte Russe. Leopard print sunglasses. Sea green Mystique bag.

Being a huge lingerie lover, I have a bra that matches the top perfectly. I love how I can show a lot by barely showing it. The back is a lot more revealing than the front, which I love because I think backs and shoulders are mucho sexy. The frilling in the front keep with the sheer while covering my girls and tummy.

Various rings and bracelets.

I wore my Tigers Eye in my stone cage necklace.

I can’t wait to get to work on my new canvases on my brand new easel!

Thanks for reading! Love, GK

Chilled-out Cheetah

I kind of forget, until the end of the day, that I had re-made it my mission to feature my Daily Threads. So, I had a friend quick snap these of me so I could keep the promise I made to myself… for now.

I was enjoying a really low-key relaxing day off of work so I wore a brand new (1st time wearing) white tank that I picked up from Ross for $4.99 and my even newer Cheetah print shorts that I got for $10 on clearance at TJ Maxx the other day.

I wore my usual array of bracelets. Today they included: my silver bangle, my silver chain, earth tone beads, Alex & Ani Star of Venus bangle and a jade beaded bracelet. (I forgot to get any closer pics.) I had my claddagh ring on and some dangley earrings (I don’t know how to describe these). I had my silver shamrock on, as usual, and my owl loop necklace.

I completed my look with my leopard print, cat eye sunglasses and my Louis Vuitton Speedy 25. My Speedy is actually one of my newest acquisitions. I bought it second had and had it authenticated; I got a fabulous deal on the price (after some serious negotiating thank you very much.). I also love my “Mint Sorbet” nail polish!

Thats it! Thanks for reading! Please subscribe up top and you can also follow me on Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram!

I’ve got the need, the need for jeans.

I’ve been scoping out colored jeans for well over a year now. (I’ve been suffering from non-buyer’s remorse over that amazing pair of mint green jeans I spotted last summer! Oh, what could have been…) It’s no secret that colored denim is one of the hottest trends of the year… again.

This trend got very popular in Spring/Summer of ’11 and carried right through Fall/Winter. This year, they’re still a hot look. (Provided that you didn’t select to wear the most god-awful ugly pair… some of you really need to reconsider your choices when attempting to participate in this trend. IJS. In fact, while I’m ranting: It isn’t enough to just participate in a hot style trend, any style trend, simply because it is technically categorized in that particular trend category… if it looks bad, it’s bad, not trendy, not fierce, not fashionable… just bad. That saggy pair of burnt sienna denim may not be the best choice…)

Despite my desire for an amazing pair of colored jeans, I have yet to obtain a pair! This summer, I WILL make a fabulous pair of colored jeans my own. I’m very particular, as most woman are, when it comes to the shape and style of my jeans. NOT ALL JEANS ARE CREATED EQUAL. This is why I normally don’t mind shelling out more than I normally would on a single article of clothing when it comes to the perfect pair of jeans. However, how many times can I really expect to wear a pair of mint green or red jeans? I don’t even wear my whites all that often… REGARDLESS: I will finally buy a pair (or two) of amazing colored jeans!

Here’s some inspiring ladies who make the colored denim trend look so desirable:

Even more than I wish to secure my own pair of colored jeans, I want a pair of Printed Denim jeans!! So so so so so so badly!!! But finding an amazing pair of printed denim is an even harder task than finding your perfect colored pair. Obviously shape, size and fit are the most important factors but finding a pattern that’s right for me (or you) is an even greater challenge. Personally, I don’t want too bold of a pattern; something subtle but still bold enough. (See how this becomes a mission?) Basically, I want MY perfect pair of printed jeans. So between finding my perfect pair of print and color jeans, I’ve got my work cut out for me… but I’m totally up for the task! Here’s some printed denim inspiration:

I’ve got some serious shopping to do…
