Pretty in Pink

Pale Pink is definitely considered a neutral when it comes to nails. I’ve always loved the soft feminist of a woman’s hand when painted with a pretty pink.

Taking a break from the crazy colors and effects that usually don my nails, I decided to use Sally Hansen’s Hard As Nails in “Set in Stone”. First, I used a base by Nicole by O.P.I.

Here’s how it looks:

"Nail It!"

Inspired by Lucky Magazine’s July Issue’s article “Nail It!”, I gave myself a funky mani/pedi today.

This spiraled marble look is what I was originally going for on my hands. However, to really do this you would need specialty brushes.

Soooooo…. I modified the directions a bit. and went with a different color scheme.

First I applied a full coat of my chosen base color. I chose Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear #450 Caribbean Coral. Once dry, I applied blobs of Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear #480 The Real Teal and White in no particular pattern on the nail. Before drying, I used an old bottle of clear coat to blend and swirl the blue and white. I repeated this with each nail. (Hence why I used an old clear coat that was running out instead of a perfectly good bottle.)

Anyway, here’s how it looks:

I’ve also noticed a lot of celebs rocking this look. Also featured in Lucky’s article, I decided to try it out on my toes. In spite of hating my feet and “alien toes” I’ve taken a pic just for you guys… I know, I’m a generous blogger.

Enhancing Makeup

This summer, it’s easy for you to achieve the warm looks with your makeup while enhancing your natural beauty. Here’s a few enhancing makeup tips to keep in mind.

  • When trying to achieve that warm skin tone this summer, blend a tinted primer evenly all over your face to boost your skin tone, this will also help to “erase” fine lines.
  • By using a warm cream blush (coral!!!) on the apples of your cheeks you can really make your warm look pop.
  • Try using a bronzer with a bit of shine to it. Use a flat-headed larger brush and apply bronzer to your forehead, cheeks (over the blush), and down your chin.
  • To get that defined (thin) jawline, apply a slightly darker bronzer under your jaw bone and down your neck.
  • Then, blend a cream highlighter around the structure of your face.

Hope this helps! If you give any of these tips a try, stop back by and let me know how it worked for you!I love comments! Thanks for reading!

[Maxi] Dress Yourself

This summer, the Maxi Dress is a beach must-have!

If you’re Curvy, look for a Maxi Dress with two straps (you’re girls need that support!). You’ll also want to look for one that cuts just under your bustline, bringing your in at your smallest point.

If you’re Petite, try a strapless one. This creates the illusion of being longer up top, lengthening you a bit.

Ladies with an Athletic build (and wider shoulders) should definitely never go strapless! This only makes you look more masculine. Go with a halter top.

If you’re Tall and Thin (congratulations) you can pretty much rock any Maxi Dress. Go for a whimsical, flowy look since you can definitely pull it off.

Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day!

I enjoyed my day off from work at my family’s home poolside. We were enjoying the sunshine and our barbeque as we celebrated the unofficial start of Summer 2011 while remembering the service men and women who have served to make that possible.

My little sister and I, poolside.
Yum-yum! I ♥ Summer!

It was so disappointing. Saturday at work, while I was checking a mother and her 3 young children out of the clinic, I wished them a happy Memorial Day. One of her boys, about 6 years old, asks his mother “What’s Memorial Day?” to which this woman replied “Ummmm… gee. Actually, I don’t know.”

… …. …. …. Really?

I simply said to the boy “Memorial Day is when we remember and honor the men and women who have served and even given their lives for our freedom. So if you see someone who was in the Army, [for lack of and in depth explanation of all military branches], make sure you say thank you.”

The mother, obviously a bit embarrassed, and rightfully so, said “I guess it’s pretty bad that Mom didn’t know that”. and when I answered the boy’s question I wasn’t trying to embarrass to make her feel bad, but the kid definitely should know what memorial day is… and so should his mother.

But…… Summer 2011 is here!!!

This summer is going to be fantastic, and I’m so excited about this season’s trends!! I know I’ve been slacking on here this past month, but I’ve been doing my research and I have so many topics, trends, and how-tos to post very very soon!
