October Goop Birchbox Spoilers

I just took a peak on my Birchbox account at what my October Birchbox has in store for me upon arrival (which should be today btw). I did in fact get chosen ton receive one of the highly coveted Goop Birchboxes and after watching the sneak peek video I was so excited! The products featured look amazing! Then I saw what I would be receiving…

Where’s my sample of Chantecaille Brilliant Gloss and Faux Cils Mascara? Where’s my DDF Wrinkle Resist Pore Minimizer Moisturizing Serum? Where’s my Supergoop? And the most pressing question of all: Where the f*ck is my Essie?

I really expected this month’s box, partnered box with, to have the best of the best or at the very least the products highlighted in the monthly video. A LUNA BAR!? No thanks Birchbox and Gwenyth Platrow can stick it up her ass. I’ll walk to walgreens when I want a LUNA bar; I don’t want it included in my monthly subscription that I pay for to receive cosmetics.

Once again, I’m disappointed with my Birchbox and I havent even received it yet. (It could very well be sitting in my mailbox right now though) I can only hope that my GlossyBox won’t disappoint. I received my shipping notification email from GlossyBox and when I tracked my package, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is closer than I expected. GlossyBox only sent me my email this morning, but my box was shipped on the 12th.

That means I should have my very first GlossyBox by the end of the week! Be frightened, Birchbox. You’re on the chopping block, for real. There’s a few other monthly cosmetic subscription box services I’ve been researching recently and I might just have to kick Birchbox to the curb and sign up for another service.

I’ll have a full review of my October Birchbox up soon (hopefully by the end of the night). I’ll also have a full review of my GlossyBox goodies posted asap.

Thanks for reading and my apologies for all the expressed anger. BIRCHBOOOOOX [shakes fist in the air]. Love, GK

Goop Loot

I fell off the wagon. I dropped the ball. I’m not posting a daily threads post today.

I just didn’t feel like it and honestly, you’re not missing much but there is something else I wanted to express and it is my eagerness to receive my October Birchbox.

On the tenth, I received my shipping notification email from Birchbox and have been checking my tracking number regularly since. Now, the email I received mentions how “this month, Birchbox has teamed up with… [blah blah blah…]” but it doesn’t mention anything about the alternative October Birchbox, Transformation. So does that mean I am one of the subscribers who will be receiving a Goop Birchbox? I’ve been assuming “yes”.

The products in the Goop Birchbox look ah-maze-zing.

  • Chantecaille Brilliant Gloss
  • Chantecaille Faux Cils Mascara
  • Supergoop! City Sunscreen Serum
  • DDF Wrinkle Resist Pore Minimizer Moisturizing Serum
  • Essie Nail Polish

Give me! Give me! Give me!

The transformation box looks pretty good too, though:

  • Eyeko Skinny Liquid Liner
  • Vitivia Pro:Vitamin A15 and Pro:Vitamin C10
  • Harvey Prince Hello 50ml
  • Harvey Prince Hello 8.8ml
  • Benta Berry G-1 Moisturizing Face Cream

If you haven’t already, check out the sneak peek video:

I’m hoping, that when I get home from work tomorrow, my amazing October Goop Birchbox will be waiting for me. Also, when the hell does GlossyBox ship? I’m due to receive my very first GlossyBox this month and I haven’t heard anything out of them in over a month. I’m getting anxious…

Another quick thing I’d like to mention is a contest being held my one of my favorite blogs for redheads How to be a Redhead. The contest is being held through HTBAR’s Instagram and I am crossing my fingers that I win the goods. The afore mentioned goods are redhead approved by the girls at HTBAR and are provided by Whip Hand Cosmetics.

If you’re one of my [fellow] Ginger readers and you’re on Instagram, I think you should enter asap! Make sure to follow both @HowtobeaRedhead and @WhipHandCosmetics. While you’re at it, you can follow me @GingerKate!

Thanks for reading! Love, GK

July 2012 :: Birchbox #3

It’s that time again! Time for my monthly Birchbox review.

For July’s box, Birchbox joined Glamour magazine in celebrating our 5 senses with summery picks to indulge each one in.

The box included 4 beauty samples and 2 extras.

1.) Alterna – BAMBOO UV+ Color Protection Fade-Proof Fluide – full-size: $24 – I’ve only used this product once so far and I think it’s probably most effective for thinner hair than my own. It promises to prevent UV rays from fading color-treated hair as well as strengthen hair. If it does, I’d say it’s totally worth the $24 for a bottle but I wouldn’t be able to make that determination from this sample. The reason why I believe it to be best for thin hair is because it takes a lot of this products to even begin to gloss over my hair.

I like that many of the [long list of] ingredients are natural but there are plenty of chemicals in it’s formula making it far from “organic”.  ♥

2.) Eyeko – Skinny Liquid Eyeliner – full-size: $15 – I can only assume this is a full size “sample”. It’s also my favorite item in the box!

It is so easy to apply! The coverage is fantastic! I’m in love with this eyeliner. Honestly. I will absolutely buy more of these eyeliners. They are available is several fun colors and right now, I want them all. The one I received is Olive green and with football season right around the corner, I will love wearing this on game-day when I’m cheering on my NY Jets! ♥♥♥♥♥

3.) Harvey Prince – Hello – full-size: $26, $55 – I like this scent. A lot. It’s light and fresh, perfect for summer fun! Meyer Lemon, White Grapefruit, Forsythia & Pink Plumeria all add to the scent. I thought the reasons why Harvey Prince chose them (printed on the packaging) was pretty cute too. I would strongly consider buying a full-size bottle; depends on how much it grows on me. ♥♥♥♥

4.) Supergoop! – City Sunscreen Serum – full-size: $20-$42 – I love that this provides UV protection while incorporating other skin care solutions. This 30+ spf sunscreen also helps moisturize and repair aged skin. It applies thin and doesn’t feel too heavy. I might buy this again… ♥♥

5.) extra – Tea Forte – minteas – 3 tins – $9.95 – These are pretty delicious. It gives the perfect little refresh. They’re all natural, sugar free and made from organic teas.

6.) extra – Birchbox Exclusive – Earbuds – They work. Awesome. I haven’t checked out the “getting pretty” playlist created by Glamour Magazine on Spotify yet…

July’s Birchbox total: 12/20♥s. The Eyeko Liquid Eyeliner is by far my favorite products in this month’s box! (love it!)
