Today’s Target Haul & VersaSpa

photo

I just got home from Target and Tanning and wanted to share with you my beauty haul and tell you a little bit about my first experience with VersaSpa at my local Boca Tanning Club. First, here’s what I picked up at Target:

  • St Ives Naturally Indulgent Body Lotion with Coconut Milk & Orchid Extracts
  • Jergens Shea Butter Moisturizer – travel size (for my purse)
  • Earth Therapeutics Soothing Bead Gel beauty mask
  • Yes To Cucumber Facial Towelettes – travel size (also for my purse since I’ll need to remove my makeup before each of my upcoming tanning sessions.)
  • Maybelline Fit Me concealer in Fair
  • EOS Lip Balm in Summer Fruit
  • Sally Hansen nail files
  • Sally Hansen Double Duty base and top coat
  • Que Bella Purifying Mud Mask with Teatree & Witchhazel
  • Que Bella Refreshing Peel-off Mask with Pomegranate
  • Soho London Kabuki Brush (I actually snagged this at TJ Maxx for $6.99 along with a few soy candles.)

I recently ran out of my go-to concealer (Tarte Amazonian Clay Concealer) and needed to pick one up so I went with the Maybelline Fit Me concealer. I like the Maybelline Fit Me line of products and it’ll hold me over just fine until I get another tube of the Tarte. I had never tried the eos lip balms until today but they came highly recommended so at check-out I threw one of these babies in my basket and I’m happy I did. I don’t necessarily believe this will become one of my must-have items but I definitely like it a lot. I like the little egg-like shape but I know, after a few drinks, i’m going to have trouble sealing it again and destroy my lip balm. The cold face mask, mud mask and peel-off masks I picked-up because, hey, why not? I grabbed some nail equipment because my mind was on the new bottle of essie I bought yesterday, at walgreens, and I’m about to mani-it-up when I’m done with this post.

Ok. So onto the tanning. As a ginger, I don’t do well in the sun. If I can somehow manage to enjoy more than a couple of hours under the sun, I can’t even dream for one second enjoying a beautiful dose of color… unless it’s a beautiful dose of shades ranging from the mild, blush to the painful, bright crimson. My best result is just pink and the worst result could kill me. Of course, like a lot of other people, I do enjoy the way I look (in a bathing suit, especially) with a little bit of a glow. Naturally, over the years I’ve experienced some of the worst results of self tanning but I’ve also had some good results. Recently I’ve been researching VersaSpa spray tanning and reading/hearing a lot of really positive things. I checked out a few youtube videos of other fair skinned girls discussing their results and I liked that those results weren’t extreme; The VersaSpa is subtle but can be easily built up. The process is super fast! After my tutorial from the salon girl, I only spent about five minutes being sprayed. I could see a slight difference immediately and in the past hour and half, I’ve noticed it developing a bit. After about 6-8 hours, the color should be fully developed. (I’ll post an update on how I like the color as well as some of the other products I’ve been using to self tan recently in a future post.)

I decide upon buying a month package at Boca Tanning specifically for the VersaSpa. For a month, I can get unlimited sprays for the price of 3 sprays. Even if I only go once a week, it’s still worth it but since it’s unlimited this month, I might build myself a darker than usual tan for the Fourth of July! Again, why not?

Beach Bummin’ It

Ok, I did even worse today than I did yesterday at remembering to capture my Daily Threads look.

I spent most of the afternoon at the beach with the boys and so my attire consisted of my bathing suit, an old pink racer-back tank, my billabong jean shorts and sanuk flip flops. Except, I quickly lost the flip flops and the shorts followed pretty quickly after.

No jewelry. No makeup.

Most of the pictures we took this afternoon were long shots of us playing around along the shore, surfing or playing frisbee. This is a shot of me while playing frizbee. You can see I have on the bikini and the pink tank only at this point.

Pretty far away (I zoomed in as much as I could without it looking all pixely) but here you can at least see the bikini. I love it. It’s an adorable sea-green/teal color (one of my favorites that always looks great on me) and it has an underwire and push-up “technology” similar to the Miraculous Bikini top from Victorias Secret, except I bought this at Target for a fraction of the price and it isn’t as huge and bulky at the VS one.

There ya go. I’m trying to keep my promise and keep up with my Daily Threads. If you like what you read, please subscribe, or bookmark me, whatever… just come back.

I love comments, so please feel free to do so! And I love my followers on Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram (@GingerKate) so if you’re a user, find me and follow. I’ll follow back if you mention Ginger-Kate.com!!

Thank you!! Love, GK

Besti Beach day

This morning, my best friend, Kacie and I head down to Herman’s Bay Beach. It felt so good to just relax in the sun and feel the relief of the breeze coming off the water while taking a tumble in the waves every now and then.

It was an absolutely glorious day, perfect day for the beach, and Kacie and I both agreed that I we take our beach access for granted too often. We live where people vacation, why aren’t we at the beach everyday?!

As a little girl, my family and I used to walk to the beach regularly on Long Island. I need to reconnect with that part of me that draws comfort, inspiration, and relief from the shore.

Daily Threads:

  • Periwinkle Ruffle Bikini from Target. $24.99? I don’t remember.

Great Day for Sales!

Today I went shopping in search of a new white polo. I didn’t find one that I liked, however I did run into a few sales that I simply couldn’t resist. Here’s the loot:

Wet Seal was having a 5 for $20 sale on t-shirts, I need to stop buying so many t-shirts.
American Eagle was having an additional 20% of clearance iteams and when I signed up for their rewards card, I received an additional 15% off. I got this adorable khaki mini for about $11.
I also got this floppy hat ($6), mirror necklace ($2 clearance), and snake ring ($5) from
Styles for Less.

I was most excited, however, by this completely adorable green bag I found at Marshall’s for $26!! I love it!

What I Wore

 – “I ♥ The Beatles” T-Shirt – $7
– Khaki Mini by Roxy
– Coach Tote

My little sister stopped by later this evening looking totally adorable.

– Floral Dress – Target
– Betsy Johnson Bag
– Metallic Flip Flops
– Feather Earrings

Strega Nona at The Lyric Theater

Today I worked wardrobe for a children’s musical “Strega Nona” based on the children’s book. I mostly steamed a bunch of the player’s costumes and made a few repairs. (Although, I was needed on headset stage left, briefly, at the beginning of each show, which I wasn’t expecting.) I had a lot of fun and I felt adorable (and quite comfy) in my outfit for the day.

The Navy Blue T was ordered from Forever 21 for like $4 or something.
I also ordered the Navy Blue beret from Forever 21. $2.50, I believe.
The Silver Satchel is Sag Harbor, which I bought at Ross for about $15.

I don’t know where I acquired my gray cardigan,
but it’s little pearl buttonsare my favorite part of it.
I wore my Navy Blue and White Polka Dot ballet flats.
I don’t remember where or when I bought these either
.

I found this clock necklace at Target yesterday! I love it! I just wish it actually worked.

Makeup: I used blue, gray and silver to accomplish my smoky eye of the day. I used an Almay Blue Eyeshadow Trio, Covergirl brown eye pencil and Maybelline Great Lash mascara in blackest black. I added a little shimmer with Mica Bella Mineral Cosmetics.

To accomplish the rest of my face for the day I used my Maybelline Pure Makeup Liquid Foundation and Maybelline Mineral Powder liquid concealer, as always, along with Covergirl powder.
