St Petersburg! Art, Theater & Friends!

Yesterday, a group of us hit the road to St Petersburg to see our amazingly, incredibly, awesomely talented friend Ryan earn his equity card as Mark in Rent!

We all woke up pretty early and and grabbed some breakfast. Turnpike to Route 60 and then… a whole lot of nothing for a couple of hours.

Nothing except billions upon billions of love bugs!!! Check out the windshield.

But we finally made it to Tampa…

…and then came what I was dreading… a 7 (?) mile bridge! -eek! (I get really freaked out about bridges… I think I plummeted to my death from one in a past life or something…)

The bridge was actually beautiful!

Our first stop and activity of the day was The Dali Museum. We were all so excited and for some of us it was our first time. It was incredible… and a bit disappointing… they can’t (and most certainly don’t) have everything and there are actually several Salvador Dali museums.

I did see one of my favorites:

Three Young Surrealist Women Holding in their Arms the Skins of an Orchestra

We all had a really amazing time.

The outside of the museum was just as beautiful and enjoyable as the gallery. I had one of the most delicious sweet iced teas… in fact, I had two.

There was a small hedge maze and lots of great photo-op spots.

Logan and Ryan met up with us after the Dali Museum and headed over to The Pier. It’s basically a mall on the dock full of gift shops. We explored the first level briefly before heading upstairs to Cha Cha Coconuts for lunch.

It was beautiful up there too!

We spent some time enjoying the view then explored the rest of The Pier.

We left The Pier and walked around the downtown area for a while. Grabbed a drink at a really adorable bar with gorgeous bathrooms… I don’t remember the name of it… there were many a drinks before that drink. We were all pretty much dragging ass at this point so a stop at Starbucks was essential.

We headed over to the park for our main attraction of the day: The American Stage Theatre Company’s production of RENT! starring the TRO! Our two other friends, Carter and Kim, who live in the area met up with us there. We all enjoyed the show and were very impressed with a lot. (and we are a very picky group.) We headed to Denny’s… best middle of the night crap food. Kacie and her car headed home after that, the car I was in went back to Carter’s place and debated whether or not to crash for a few hours or just start driving back. Ultimately we chose to head back, but it didn’t make a difference to me… I slept the whole time. I woke up once and remember Casey telling me we were in Barstow and I was like “Wtf? We’re practically in Tampa still.” My next memory is Casey telling me we’re in the drive way and J helping me out of the car. It was not about 5am this morning… and I went right back to sleep. I was wiped after all that awesomeness!

Random Ramblings

I’m sitting backstage on this beautiful, warm South Florida Sunday, listening to the piano as it’s played by our artist tonight. Yesterday was my only day off since February 20th and it was far too short of a day. I didn’t accomplish anything. I sat at my house, far too exhausted to even think about anything. I could hardly consider it a real day off either since I had to do my BJs and Publix shopping for today and that was a whole other frustration in itself.

After waiting as long as I could, I left my house around 8pm and set off for BJs Wholesale, which would be closing at 9pm. I drove all the way there and then had a realization, “I didn’t bring my wallet.” I had left in on the living room coffee table when I had it out to pay for the Chinese delivery. Before leaving the house I had that feeling too; the one that leaves you thinking “I know I’m forgetting something.” I had to turn around and drive all the way home for my wallet. I returned to BJs (it was now 8:30pm-ish) and then hurried about the warehouse store for the few items I needed to buy for today. I then crossed the highway to Publix to pick up the rest and then headed home for a few more hours of doing absolutely nothing.

I had planned on cleaning. I had planned on doing laundry. I had planned on blogging and starting my new diet and exercise regimen. None of this happened. If Casey hadn’t done so much laundry a couple of days ago, I wouldn’t have had anything to wear today. Thanks, Babe. (I have a crazy strong feeling of Deja Vu right now while typing this… I get Deja Vu all the time… it still trips me out.)

So now I’m working. On Sunday. A beautiful Sunday. 😦

-What else?- My computer cord or the socket where the power cord plugs in (I still don’t know for sure which) is still broken. I can’t upload and edit my photos because Casey’s computer doesn’t take my memory card (I suppose I could use my camera’s cord. Whatever). I’m thinking of investing in a netbook though. I would love a tablet PC, but definitely can’t afford one right now. I saw some netbooks for a good price at BJs last night. Anyway, it’s been extremely problematic and quite the annoyance not having my technology at my disposal. I’ve had to snap pics with my phone just to stay up to date. As a matter of fact, here’s what I’m wearing today:

My Cream w/ Pearl Accented neckline top
Cream Cami underneath (the top is kind of sheer)
and my Khaki Slacks from The Gap.
Kind of uneventful, but hey, it’s work attire.

Oh! Check out my nails today! I’m pretty sure I have Nail-ADHD, because I’m constantly changing them. That’s why I stopped going for regular manicures… I always want to change them after only a couple of days anyway. These press-ons by Broadway Nails are super cute. I’m a fan of press-ons; I don’t care what others say. I think people have given them a bad rap over the years, but they’ve come a long way from the days of 1970’s Lee Press-ons. When applied properly and when the real nail is properly prepared, cheap-ass press-ons can look fabulous!

-This pic was snapped before I had applied my cuticle oil. 😦 –

My toenails are painted with Black Hard Candy polish and a Glitter Hard Candy Top Coat to match my rock-and-roll nails!

So, it’s been baffling to me for a while as to why my Nov 5, 2010 post “I Quit [Smoking] Day #3, #4, #5? & Married to Rock” has been my top read post. It’s probably one of the lamest posts, in my opinion, that I’ve ever posted… and I’ve posted some pretty lame posts.

It was basically following up on my first real attempt at kicking my smoking habit and I also discussed the [then] upcoming premier of E!’s “Married to Rock”. I rambled about whether or not I would like the show, bashed each of the “ladies” a bit… the usual. For some weird reason, this has been my most popular post.

I checked my stats and found that the reason why this post is so popular is because when folks Google “Etty Ferrall” “Josie Stevens” “A.J. Celli” “Susan Holmes McKagan” or for Image results for these woman or just “Married to Rock”, my little old blog seems to be one of the top results. This leads me to believe one of two things:

A.) These lame-ass bitches are googleing themselves.
B.) Nobody else is writing about them.

I’m not sure which is sadder. Either way, let me give you my follow-up to that post which was written in speculation before the show had premiered.

It sucks.

It’s terrible.

and as predicted, these trannies are ridiculously boring. I’d love to give some kind of credit to each of them, but it’s hard. I couldn’t even bring myself to watch more than three episodes. It was bad. and this is coming from a girl who watches such crap as The Jersey Shore and You’re Cut Off… so you know it’s bad.

Maybe this post will increase my traffic…
Thanks, “Married to Rock” plasti-freaks.
Much love, Ginger Kate.

and since we’re on the topic of blog traffic. I have to thank my newest blog-friend Fat-Aus for linking me to her amazing blog. I’ve been a fan of this girl’s blog and style for a few months now and recently we each linked the other. I’m very happy to have the Aussies checking out what Ginger Kate has to say. So, Thank you, Fat-Aus. I try and show my thanks and give credit where credit is due. It’s so refreshing when fellow bloggers embrace their fashionista sisters instead of scrambling for dominance in the blog world. I wonder how much traffic I’ve sent to some of these other chicks’ blogs that can’t seem to return the favor? I’ve linked and then unlinked other bloggers in the past, not because I didn’t enjoy reading their blog, but because they’re clambering and competing with one another and can’t seem to network well with others… I think it’s about time I cleaned house a little on my “Who I’m Reading” List again…

…to you, selfish bloggers.

But if you haven’t yet, please check out Fat-Aus. Her style and wit will keep you coming back for more!

Also, one of my favorite favorite favorite fashion bloggers, author of Waiting ‘Round To Be A Millionaire, linked me as well!! Such an honor. This is one of my most favorite blogs, and I hope you’ll check it out.

—Oh! and PS: On Friday night, I watched the Robin Williams movie “World’s Greatest Dad”. I had read about it a while ago and was interested in seeing it… … … I felt so depressed and uncomfortable while watching and then all day yesterday. I don’t know how to feel about the movie exactly. I guess I would have to say it was amazing considering the impact it left on me. I still feel weird two days later. I would suggest checking it out, but then again, maybe you should skip it. Unless you’re into feeling weirded-out and creeped-out for days…

If you feel bad, buy stuff.

Yesterday, I was feeling particularly down. It felt like I was facing more extreme stresses than usual… and I don’t like regular stress (I know, weird, huh?). Anyway, it pretty much sucked. Aside from the fact that I had shared the stage with Tommy Tune… “there is no such thing as small parts, just small actors” or something like that. What I mean to say is that however brief my time on stage with Tommy was, and regardless of that fact that I had no lines, and absolutely no dancing of any kind, I performed with Tommy Tune. Let me give you the play-by-play:

-the number begins. … following “Wake Me Up When September Ends.” No. I’m not being sarcastic, ironic, a prankster or a jokester. No. I’m not joshin’ya either. Yes. The Green Day Song. In all honesty, the story that preceded the piece was a bit of a teary one… this horrid song was actually incredibly touching…
[Tommy Tune deserves Sainthood for this.]

-I step out carrying a very bedazzled red penguin-tailed coat… a large one… this guy is huge. Tall that is. “5 feet, 17 1/2 inches, and all fun”… (that’s in the ad copy.)

-I walk down stage, toward the masses, to the fans. … even if they were his fans. and even though my mark was behind a row of lights and several very large power chords that are non existent as far as the audience is concerned, but still very real to me. Potential death. I was risking my life to walk on stage and stand hear Tommy. But the show must go on!

Ok, this is where the magic happens:
-From Center, he “spots” me.
-He then taps his way over.
– …. then I help him put on the jacket. (AND I WAS AMAZING!)
-I wait a moment. smiling in my fabulous sparkley Steve Maddens.
-He gives me a look, a smile, then a nod.
-I acknowledge the look/smile/nod… and smile.
-We both break away.
-He returns to… wherever the F his next place was and I exit upstage right (the whole time praying I can find the break.)
…and Tommy blows the audience away, blah blah blah… but for that moment, while the spotlight shined upon us… it was… magic. award winning stuff. but mostly, I was honored. Truly. -I just wish I had a picture
Question: Will this be going on my resume?
Answer: Yes. I’ll also announce it when entering parties or anytime I introduce myself to someone.
Best part? I was short. in heels. …I forgot to look up tonight, was the moon indeed blue? (Side note: a “Blue Moon” is the second Full Moon to occur in a month… now you know. and knowing is half the battle.)

So anyway, yesterday was really hard. …wah wah wah

I was hoping today would be better, but I was still feeling absolutely horrible. After a pep-talk from one of my favorite co-workers, I felt loads better. I was able to sit down and focus and get my sh*t together. Later, I had to pick-up laundry and make a stop at that bank. On my way back to the theatre, I began to wish I had a better shirt to wear with my skirt for that night’s show. I decided to stop in at T.J.Maxx. I’ve had a store credit gift card for a while that needed spending anyway… you know where this is going anyway, so here’s what I bought:

This completely adorable layered and lace cream top. $11.00 Clearance.

This black with white embellishment sundress. Perfect for the beach $10.00 Clearance.

These completely adorable, So retro-fabulous, Black and White Polka Dot with Red Patten, Steve Madden heels. I just knew I needed to make these mine. When I slipped them on, a 1947 Chevy pulled up and I was asked to jitterbug. No lies or exaggeration… at all. $24.99.

I felt a lot better after that and hurried back to work.

Nicki’s Birthday

Tonight was the last “Fanfare to Murder” show. It was at another place in Jensen. The crowd was a quite lively. When I made my entrance, several audience members proclaimed “she was here last year!” and one gentleman even proceeded to wave at me from his table across the room. Then, when Casey made his entrance, an entirely different table from the opposite side of the room cheered “He was here last year too!” and that table broke out into applause for him… it was sweet, but a little crazy.

During the question answer period, one audience member accused some of the cast of stealing his wallet… ???… some of these people are really old. After the show, a bunch of friends, including most of the “Fanfare…” cast got together for Nicki’s birthday by her pool.

It was really cold out so I wore a couple of layers: I wore my nerdy owl sweatshirt (forever21) for the first time!

I stayed with the bright colors by adding my red peacoat (forever21) and new royal blue scarf! I also rocked the Uggs for the night. -I ended up also layering my Darth Vadar hoodie over top of it all. Here are some fun pics from the party.

Ronald, Bradly, and myself. I wish I could see these boys so much more often!

San Sare to Murder

Today the “Fanfare…” gang got back together for a performance in Jensen Beach. This was the first time in a long time the whole alumni cast was there; it was also the last time.

The group who was hosting us tonight had posters up around the building that billed the show as “San Sare to Murder.”… we all got a kick out of it.

We were also hanging out in the hallway with the bathrooms, so during breaks, we had to go outside to avoid out of character conversation with audience members coming to use the bathrooms… theatre on the road…

We did take some cute pictures out on the dock though.

The show was not without its mistakes or crazy moments. In fact it was pretty crazy. But with the real cast there, it’s almost more fun when you get the chance to improv a little while figuring out how to get on track. It’s quite the adrenaline rush!

After the show, we all had dinner at the Jensen Beach Chilis.

My last show will be tomorrow, and Nicki wont be there because it’s her birthday weekend. It was a good run guys. I had a lot of fun with all of you!

-After reviewing this post, I realized: we sure are a group that enjoys thumbs-up”
